IRRI Creates Another Hackathon For Rice Research Called Hack4Rice

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) together with their partners, Leaxcoin and Soft Micro Enterprises is delighted to announce Hack4Rice 2019, a hackathon whose focus is on rice research, which will be happening on August 30 to September 1, 2019, at the IRRI Headquarters at Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines.

Having the theme, “Advancing Rice Research Through Tech and Innovation”, the hackathon aims to bring together people with diverse backgrounds and nurture a community of collaboration and innovation. Participants have the opportunity to interact with IRRI staff involved in rice research and operations, external partners, and so much more who can provide valuable insights and have thorough knowledge about the pain points that the hackathon hopes to help alleviate.

Except for those from outside the Philippines joining remotely, participants will get to experience the idyllic scenery of Los Baños, the wonderful food, and the peace and quiet an escape from the urban jungles brings.

Through Hack4Rice 2019, the opportunity to expand your reach becomes available as you get to interact with people coming from different fields. As the hackathon aims to provide participants with as near a glimpse of the world of rice research, there are a lot of opportunities to ensure impact through what you build. Lastly, this is a great opportunity to develop collaboration not only between teammates but with other participants and stakeholders thereby nurturing an environment for empowerment.

Registration is FREE which you can do through the website at https://hack4rice2019.irri.org. If you have any inquiries, you may send an email to hack4rice2019@irri.org or send a message through Facebook.
