PLDT Home Accelerates Fiber Growth, Delivers Strong 1H Performance

PLDT Home accelerated its fiber-led growth in the first half of 2025, with fiber-only revenues rising 7% year-on-year to ₱29.5 billion. Fiber now accounts for 97% of Home revenues, underscoring PLDT’s continued transition away from legacy technologies. Overall, Home revenues grew 4% year-on-year to ₱30.4 billion, driven by aggressive fiber expansion, bundled services, and enhanced customer engagement.

“Our growth reflects the increasing demand for high-speed connectivity and value-rich digital experiences,” said John Y. Palanca, SVP and Head of PLDT Home Business. “We’re expanding our fiber footprint while delivering bundled services that meet evolving customer needs.”

In the first half of 2025, PLDT Home sustained its premium ARPU and grew net additions, which highlights the value and strength of its services that drive customers’ continued trust.

The telco added 169,000 new fiber subscribers in H1, tripling last year’s net additions and bringing total connections to 3.53 million.

This growth momentum goes beyond its network expansion, but also about delivering bundled lifestyle services, superior customer care, and personalized digital engagement. Flagship bundles such as Fiber Unli All and Fiber Plus Netflix continue to attract subscribers with their mix of broadband, mobile, and content services. Over 80% of new customers in Q2 opted for higher-value plans priced at ₱1,299 and above, helping drive the industry’s highest average revenue per user (ARPU) at ₱1,485.

Customer service innovations such as faster installations, AI-powered support, and improved repair times have strengthened retention, keeping churn at the industry’s lowest rate, 1.93%.

PLDT Home is also tapping new household segments through Fiber Prepaid, designed for families who prefer the flexibility of prepaid services. Early results show that a disciplined and selective rollout of the prepaid service is gaining traction as ARPU levels have remained healthy, indicating that growth is incremental rather than shifting away from postpaid.

PLDT Home continues to play a critical role in enabling participation in the digital economy. The ongoing expansion of its fiber footprint increases accessibility to high-speed connectivity in more parts of the country. The PLDT Group’s fiber footprint remains the most extensive in the Philippines at around 1.2 million cable kilometers. Homes passed reached 19.01 million in 74 percent of the country’s towns and 91 percent of the total provinces.

Coca-Cola Philippines’ iSTAR Program Powers Family-Owned Carinderia’s Rise in Cebu

Cebu, Philippines – Coca-Cola Philippines continues to support Filipino micro-entrepreneurs through its entrepreneurship training programs, helping small businesses gain the right tools, knowledge, and confidence to grow and sustain their livelihoods.

Among the inspiring stories is that of Juniel and Salome Lucero, a couple from Pinamungahan, Cebu, who turned a small food venture into a sustainable family enterprise. Their business journey — guided by passion, persistence, and the right training provided by the iSTAR (Innovative Sari-Sari Store Training and Access to Resource) Program, a joint initiative of Coca-Cola Philippines and TESDA, where they gained essential skills in financial literacy, inventory management, and basic operations.

From online orders to a growing enterprise

Juniel, a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW), made a bold leap into the food business in hopes of turning his vision for success and Salome’s love for cooking into a reliable source of income for their family. Together, the Luceros opened Nicolai’s Cuisine in 2018.

When the pandemic hit, Juniel returned to the Philippines, and the couple found themselves seeking new ways to support their family. They changed their business approach and started selling packed lunches online, where they built a network of loyal customers. Today, Nicolai’s Cuisine has expanded to three staff members, offers catering services, sells lechon belly packages, and even runs a small trading sideline for plastic and paper packaging. Their clients now come from different parts of Cebu, far beyond their barangay.

Training that turned challenges into opportunities

Their journey to success is not without its challenges. It was riddled with difficulties, especially during the first year of running Nicolai’s Cuisine. Sales were unpredictable, their location had little foot traffic, and they lacked a system for managing operations.

"Mahina, matumal ‘yong business, ‘di mo masabi. Madaming losses. Hindi maganda ‘yong pwesto. Sa sobrang daming problema, [kaunti] na lang ‘yong dishes,” the couple said.

(Business was weak, slow, you just can’t tell. There were a lot of losses. The location wasn’t ideal. With so many problems, we could only offer a few dishes.)

Their turning point came in 2019 when Juniel completed the STAR Program (Sari-Sari Store Training and Access to Resources). As the foundation of what would later become the digital iSTAR Program, STAR helped them gain essential skills in financial literacy, inventory management, and basic operations.

In July 2024, they took their learning further by joining the iSTAR Training Program via Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. There, they learned product costing, digital payments, online marketing, and customer engagement—skills they immediately applied by setting up online group chats with nearby schools and cooperatives for streamlined orders and mobile payments.

“Napakalakas ng benta ng online talaga. Nasa bukid kami, so ginamit ‘yon (online channels) to reach more customers,” Juniel and Salome said. “Nung nasimulan namin ‘yong online, napaisip kami, ‘Bakit ngayon lang?’ [Pero hindi] pa huli ang lahat.”

(Online sales are really strong. We live on a farm, so we used that (online channels) to reach more customers. When we started selling online, we thought, ‘Why just now?’ But it’s not too late.)

With their improved business strategy, the Luceros grew their monthly income from ₱30,000 to ₱50,000, allowing them to provide better opportunities for their children. Their business is now registered with the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS), giving them access to orders from local government units.

Their efforts also earned them recognition, receiving the Top One Most Impactful and Inspiring Award under the iSTAR: HERStories program—an iSTAR initiative that highlights inspiring entrepreneurs who applied their training to grow their businesses.

Empowering more entrepreneurs

The Luceros’ success story highlights how Coca-Cola Philippines’ entrepreneurship programs help small business owners build sustainable livelihoods. Their journey reflects the potential of countless Filipino micro-entrepreneurs when given the right tools, support systems, and mindset.

“[Kapag] willing kang matuto, libre naman [at] worth it naman. Grab the opportunities na darating sa’yo,” the Luceros said, encouraging others to have confidence and pursue their dreams of building a business.

(If you’re willing to learn, it’s free and it’s worth it. Grab the opportunities that will come your way.)

Juniel added that completing the courses on iSTAR provided a major boost in growing their business, “Ang kagandahan [dito ay] iSTAR na talaga ang lumapit sa pamamagitan ng LMPC. Kaya sobrang nagpapasalamat kami sa mga opportunity na ino-offer ng iSTAR dito sa amin.”

(The good thing here is that iSTAR approached us through LMPC. That’s why we are thankful for the opportunities that iSTAR continues to provide.)

iSTAR builds on the legacy of the STAR Program, which was launched in 2012 under Coca-Cola’s global 5by20 initiative and empowered around 250,000 MSMEs through business training and support. In 2020, the program evolved into iSTAR to continue equipping entrepreneurs with the skills and tools needed to start and grow their businesses in today’s digital economy. In 2024, it was further strengthened with the launch of Centers for Entrepreneurship (CFEs) in seven key areas, offering training, mentorship, and financial support to help small businesses thrive. To date, iSTAR has produced over 300,000 graduates.

GCash Highlights Role of National ID in Enabling Inclusive, Secure Finance at BSP Forum

A trusted digital identity system lays the foundation for true financial inclusion, helping ensure that every Filipino, regardless of their background or circumstances, can access essential financial services with confidence.

This was the central message at the recent Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Forum on Digital Identity, where GCash, the country's leading finance finance super app and largest cashless ecosystem, shared how its integration with the National ID eVerify Authentication Service (NIDAS) is making identity verification easier, more accessible, and more inclusive to help more Filipinos, especially those with limited access to traditional IDs, open an account.

Held at the BSP Assembly Hall, the forum brought together leaders from government, financial institutions, and the tech sector to examine how digital identity can support more secure and inclusive financial systems. Guided by the theme “Building Trust and Synergy in Digital Identity for an Inclusive and Secure Financial System,” the discussions emphasized the need for collaboration, innovation, and user-centric solutions that address real-world access challenges.

Representing GCash was Joanne Avendaño, vice president and head of customer experience management, who shared the company’s experience as the first and only Electronic Money Issuer integrated with NIDAS. This enables GCash users to validate their identity using their National ID in real-time, eliminating the need for multiple traditional IDs, which many Filipinos today still lack. This approach has helped reduce drop-offs during onboarding and has improved the success rate of account creation, especially among underserved groups. Most importantly, it has helped streamline onboarding for a broader range of users.

“Our partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has always been more than just ID acceptance. It’s a shared commitment to make sure that no Filipino is left behind in the digital economy,” said Avendaño. “By enabling real-time National ID validation and bringing services on-ground, we’re helping more Filipinos complete their verification journey with ease and confidence,” Avendaño added.

The forum also featured insights from the National Privacy Commission, World Bank, Korea Credit Information Services, and several units within the BSP. Topics ranged from data governance and consumer protection to practical implementation challenges and international benchmarks.

Avendaño joined fellow panelists from Asia United Bank, Seabank Philippines, Maya Philippines, and the Bankers Association of the Philippines in discussing the value of coordinated efforts, shared learnings, and responsible use of digital identity systems in strengthening public trust.

Beyond app integration, GCash has also worked with the PSA and local government units (LGUs) to support on-ground National ID registration and account onboarding events, which were held in schools, barangays, and underserved communities across the country. This approach brings both digital identity and financial access closer to Filipinos who need it most.

With digital ID adoption gaining momentum, GCash’s role as an early adopter highlights the importance of responsible integration, cross-sector collaboration, and community engagement in building a more accessible and inclusive financial ecosystem.

Vitro Inc Posts Record-Breaking 36% Growth in Colocation Revenues

VITRO Inc., the data center arm of the PLDT Group and a wholly-owned subsidiary of ePLDT, has recorded its strongest performance to date in its colocation business, posting a 36% year-on-year increase in revenues in the first half of the year. This record-breaking growth was fueled by rising demand from financial institutions, the public sector, and global hyperscalers.

Colocation remains the cornerstone of VITRO’s data center growth and operations, directly impacting utilization rates and shaping the company’s expansion roadmap. The surge in colocation also drives growth in VITRO’s connectivity business, reinforcing its role as a critical enabler of digital transformation in the Philippines.

“We are building strong momentum in our data center business, with VITRO Santa Rosa (VSR) driving sustained demand from enterprises and hyperscalers. We’re growing our colocation business not just on VSR but also across all VITRO data center sites,” said Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc.

“To sustain this growth, we look forward to stronger data localization policies that will safeguard government data, accelerate cloud and AI adoption, and create even greater demand for the local data center industry,” Genuino added.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of AI workloads and hyperscale deployments, VSR has a total power capacity of 50MW. With Rated-3 certification and Rated-4 readiness, VSR provides unparalleled network diversity and resilience, as it is fully connected to other VITRO flagship sites, the country’s domestic fiber optic network, and international subsea cable systems.

VSR also houses ePLDT’s GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS), designed for enterprises that face infrastructure gaps due to high-compute workloads. With it, enterprises gain the ability to run highly demanding AI workloads on NVIDIA-powered GPU infrastructure, such as machine learning, large-scale data analytics, financial modeling, high-resolution rendering, and advanced simulations with speed, precision, and scalability without the need for massive infrastructure investment.

With the sustained adoption and evolution of AI, VITRO continues to build ahead of demand. The company is in the planning stage for its 12th data center and has already identified key sites for expansion, further cementing its leadership in the Philippine data center landscape.

PLDT Group’s continued investment in data centers and international connectivity supports its broader mission to bridge the digital divide and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

Bitget to Transfer 440 Million BGB to Morph Foundation, Accelerating BGB as Gas and Governance Token of Morph Chain

Manila, Philippines —– Bitget, the leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, is excited to share its strategic collaboration with its trusted ecosystem project Morph, the EVM layer for payments and onchain consumer finance. The duo has signed up to boost BGB's utility across a multitude of projects.

With this partnership, Bitget will transfer all BGB tokens that it controls, 440 million in total, to the Morph Foundation. Half of this allocation, 220 million BGB, will be burned in a single action, while the remaining 220 million BGB tokens will be locked and released at 2% per month to fund liquidity incentives, use case expansion, and education. Morph will become the native onchain home of BGB and serve as the core settlement layer for more than 120 million users worldwide, with BGB established as the gas and governance token of an improved high-performance network.

Building the Standard for Onchain Payments

The Morph chain will maintain its brand, team, and strategic direction, staying focused on its positioning as a Layer 2 dedicated to crypto payments, and striving to become the next-generation Web3 payment infrastructure, advancing beyond cost efficiency and performance toward real-world consumer finance at scale, with integrations across wallets, DeFi, stablecoins, and global payment providers.

“With this commitment to the Morph Foundation, BGB is entering a new chapter as the gas and governance token of Morph. This upgrade expands BGB into the utility token for the next era of onchain consumer finance, powering payments, applications, and the broader settlement layer for millions of users worldwide,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget.

Expanding BGB with Morph

BGB will become the primary token of Morph’s blockchain, serving as the gas, governance, and payment token across the layer. Settlement and PayFi activity will run through BGB alongside stablecoins, giving it a central role in powering the Morph network. Meanwhile, BGB will continue to collaborate with existing partners, including Bitget, MEXC, and Bitfinex, where BGB is already listed, and others beyond these exchanges, serving as a key medium for Launchpool's new token mining, fee discounts, and more.

Moving forward, The Morph Foundation, a decentralized non-profit organisation, will be solely responsible for BGB’s long-term development roadmap, co-building the ecosystem with the community. It will also update BGB’s burn mechanism to link directly to the Morph network activity until the total supply is reduced to 100 million.

“Morph has always had a close relationship with Bitget since its founding. There are projects we have always dreamed of collaborating on, but much of our growth so far has been autonomous. Through this strategic initiative, we are excited for Morph to become the home of Bitget’s onchain initiatives and to support the millions of BGB holders around the world.” Colin Goltra, CEO of Morph, added.

Growing Decentralized Ecosystem at Scale

To support the long-term prosperity of Morph, Bitget and Bitget Wallet will bring their full infrastructures directly into Morph, consolidating payment, trading, and ecosystem services around the chain. This includes native support for stablecoin issuers, regional currencies, and global payment providers, giving developers and merchants an unmatched foundation to build decentralized payment-focused applications at scale.

Morph Rails will serve as the backbone of this expansion, powering hackathons, builder programs, and direct support for new projects. Developers building on Morph will gain access to Bitget’s and Bitget Wallet’s base of more than 120 million users, connecting their applications with one of the largest onchain audiences in the world. With Bitget’s backing, Morph is positioned to become the settlement hub for the next generation of PayFi and consumer finance.

"BGB has found its home onchain with Morph, marking a new chapter in its journey. We are thrilled to invite millions of users to experience BGB and find utility in entirely new ways. Over the next 12 months, we will see an acceleration of BGB migration onto Morph Layer and deeper partnerships between Morph and Bitget Wallet to enable seamless web3 payments and onchain consumer finance," said Karry Cheung, CEO of Bitget Wallet.

Mober Bolsters Philippines’ Asean Commercial EV Leadership at 2nd World EV Day Forum

Manila, Philippines Mober, a frontrunner in green logistics services in the Philippines, strengthened the country’s push for commercial EV leadership in Southeast Asia (SEA) when it hosted the second edition of World Electric Vehicle (EV) Day Forum Philippines at the EDSA Shangri-La Manila.

Themed “Powering Up the Philippines to ASEAN Leadership Through Commercial EV,” the forum convened leading government agencies and industry leaders to explore the opportunities in positioning the Philippines as an important player in the ASEAN commercial EV landscape.

Dennis Ng, Founder and CEO of Mober, underscored the company’s commitment to advancing the commercial EV ecosystem through its initiatives on innovation, infrastructure, and workforce development. “From lady drivers to autonomous EVs, from battery swapping to renewable hubs, Mober is not just adapting to the future. We are building it,” said Ng.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, principal author of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA, expressed his support for the sector through a special video message during the forum.

“Sustainable transportation for Filipinos has always been close to my heart. This was the driving force behind EVIDA, which was passed into law in 2022. Rest assured that as its principal author, I remain committed to strengthening policies that support the growth of the EV industry,” Gatchalian said.

One of the highlights of the forum was the interactive session, “Myth Busters with the EV Guy,” which engaged participants in breaking down misconceptions about commercial EVs. The segment featured Ng and Liveable Cities Philippines Chairman Bill Luz addressing common concerns, such as battery efficiency and safety, range anxiety, charging infrastructure, and the vehicles' performance during weather calamities like flooding.

Panel tracks also anchored the forum, featuring thought leaders from the government and business sectors.

The first panel, “Building the Commercial EV Ecosystem: Exploring Renewable Energy and Workforce Development in Powering the Philippines’ Sustainable Logistics,” was moderated by Luz and featured Engr. Andresito Ulgado, Officer-in-Charge Chief Science Research Specialist under the Electric Vehicle Industry Management Division of the Department of Energy (DOE); Nelly Dillera, Deputy Director General for Partnerships and Community-Based Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); Elvin Garcia, Acting Chief of the Heavy Industries Division, Manufacturing Industries Service, under Board of Investments from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); Morris Zhou, Group CEO and Co-Founder of Berde Renewables Inc.; Marie Torres, Director of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Impact at Sarona Asset Management; and Miguel Bermundo, Vice President for People and Sustainability at Mober.

Discussions underscored the crucial role of government-private sector collaboration in developing the renewable energy infrastructure, supportive policies, and skilled workforce needed to sustain the transition to green mobility.

The second panel, “Building Resilient and Responsible Supply Chains,” moderated by Bong Marcelo, Vice President for Operations and Sales at Mober, gathered experts from leading corporations. Panelists featured Jade Hugo, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Mober; Severino De Robles, Fulfillment Business Developer at IKEA Philippines; Ernie Carlos, Chief Sustainability Officer at Ajinomoto; and CJ Garcia, Vendor Management Lead at Monde Nissin.

Business leaders emphasized that the shift to green mobility is no longer optional but a business imperative, noting that companies that integrate EV logistics into their operations are better positioned to meet global sustainability standards while remaining cost-competitive in the long term.

"This year's forum showcased that the transition to electric mobility is more than the presence of EVs on the roads, but it's about building the ecosystem that supports its viability in the country. We are optimistic that by gathering some of the most influential enablers in the industry, we have laid the groundwork for stronger collaboration and a clearer roadmap to position the Philippines as a key player in the ASEAN commercial EV landscape,” Ng added.

Mober inaugurated the forum last year as a testament to its vision to lead the country's green logistics. It was held in partnership with media outlets, including Manila Bulletin, BusinessMirror, The Manila Times, Manila Standard, and Malaya Business Insight.

Alsons Dev Marks Milestone in Avia Estate with Opening of The Abba’s Orchard School

Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) marked a key milestone in the development of its flagship township, Avia Estate in Alabel, Sarangani, with the opening of The Abba’s Orchard School last August 11, 2025. Bringing authentic Montessori education to SOCCSKSARGEN, The Abba’s Orchard strengthens Avia Estate’s vision of becoming a well-rounded and future-ready community.

Nurturing young minds with true Montessori

The Abba’s Orchard is a high-fidelity Montessori school system offering programs from infancy through adolescence. Known for its authentic Montessori approach, the school offers the Erdkinder program (German for "children of the earth”), a unique adolescent curriculum that integrates classroom learning with hands-on experience through an on-site farm environment. Adolescents experience “production and exchange” in a micro-economy that addresses their evolving sense of self-worth (or dignity) in their maturing journey to adulthood.

With its opening at Avia Estate, The Abba’s Orchard becomes the first true Montessori school in the SOCCSKSARGEN region. The new campus will initially offer programs for preschool up to Grade 3, with plans to expand in the future to Upper Elementary and High School levels.

“We’re proud to bring our unique approach to families in Alabel and the wider region. We envision this campus as more than just a school; it is a space where children grow through meaningful and authentic experiences. We’re excited to begin this journey in Avia Estate, helping shape a new generation of independent, purpose-driven learners,” said Chris Barrameda, President and Founding Director of The Abba’s Orchard. He added, “Through our partnership with Alsons Dev, we can further our mission of making quality Montessori education more accessible across SOCCSKSARGEN.”

A month before the school's opening, a ceremonial tree planting took place, symbolizing The Abba's Orchard School's and Alsons Dev’s shared commitment to creating a nurturing and sustainable environment for the region's young learners and their families.

A partnership rooted in community building

The school’s presence in Avia Estate was made possible through a two-hectare land donation by Alsons Dev, solidifying a shared vision of enabling families to experience authentic Montessori learning in the region.

“At Alsons Dev, we believe quality educational institutions are essential pillars of master-planned communities,” said Miguel Rene A. Dominguez, President and CEO of Alsons Dev. “The Abba’s Orchard reflects Alsons Dev's efforts of making education an integral part of daily life for families in the township.”

This collaboration reflects Alsons Dev’s ongoing efforts to integrate key institutions and lifestyle drivers into its communities, strengthening its developments not just as residential enclaves but as hubs of growth and opportunity.

Advancing Avia Estate’s growth

Avia Estate continues to make steady progress in its transformation into a future-ready township. One of the community’s key facilities, the Alabel Public Safety & Security Complex, was formally turned over last January 2025, reinforcing Alsons Dev’s commitment to ensuring safety and well-being within the estate. The Avia Estate football field is also opening this September 2025, further enriching the township’s recreational amenities.

As part of ongoing efforts to support growth and enhance estate-wide connectivity, construction of the estate's main spine road is in progress. Land development for commercial areas is also set to begin this year, strengthening Avia Estate’s position as a growing economic hub in the region.

By the end of the year, the first batch of house units in Narra Park Residences Avia will be completed, with turnovers scheduled to begin in Q1 2026. Key community features, such as gates and guardhouses, parks, and shared amenities, will also be completed, ensuring a livable and welcoming environment from day one.

Shaping the future in Alabel

With quality education now embedded within the estate and essential features nearing completion, Avia Estate is steadily taking shape as a dynamic, master-planned development where families can thrive. These milestones underscore Alsons Dev’s broader vision of creating inclusive, purpose-driven communities that uplift lives across Mindanao.

GCash, Western Union Expand Global ‘Cash In’ to Over 200 Markets to Serve More Filipinos Globally

The Philippines’ leading finance super app, GCash, is expanding its global ‘cash in’ feature through a strategic partnership with Western Union, one of the world’s most trusted international money transfer providers, with a global financial network spanning over 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Filipinos living and working overseas may ‘cash in’ (send money) to GCash e-wallet accounts through the Western Union App, website, or through a network of hundreds of thousands of retail locations worldwide. Additionally, they can also send funds to their families and friends with GCash accounts. Once completed, funds are credited instantly to the GCash wallet and can be used immediately for essentials such as groceries, bills, online shopping, savings, insurance, or even investments. Customers can now send up to PHP 500,000 per transaction.

“At GCash, we remain committed to driving financial empowerment for all Filipinos, wherever they are in the world,” said GCash International general manager Paul Albano. “This collaboration with Western Union enables fast, secure, and reliable remittances, ensuring that the hard-earned money of OFWs reaches their families swiftly and safely.”

Western Union’s global scale now connects with the extensive local cashless ecosystem of GCash—the largest in the country. GCash users in the Philippines benefit from over 339,000 cash-in and cash-out outlets, 5.2 million QR-accepting merchants, and more than 520 partner brands on the GLife platform.

Gregory Laurent, regional vice president, Philippines, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands for Western Union, said, “Our partnership with GCash, one the the Philippines’ most respected financial services brands, enables us to stay true to our purpose of serving the aspiring populations of the world with accessible, easy-to-use services, particularly in the digital space. It is yet another mark of the importance we place on the Philippines and consumers in the country, as well as the Filipino diaspora abroad.”

For millions of OFWs, this integration removes long-standing friction in the remittance process and strengthens their ability to support their families from afar. GCash continues to evolve from a money transfer platform into a holistic digital finance hub that serves the needs of Filipinos, wherever they may be.

According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), personal remittances from OFWs reached USD 38 billion in 2024, an all-time high and accounting for over 8% of the country’s GDP.

“While digital adoption is accelerating, a significant portion of these remittances is still routed through over-the-counter channels. The integration of GCash with Western Union provides a digital-first alternative that empowers OFWs and their families to manage money more efficiently, securely, and on their terms,” said Albano.

Shell Philippines brought together industry leaders, partners, and customers at the Shell Tech Forward: Solutions for the Future conference, held at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila, to explore technologies that drive sustainable growth and enhance competitiveness in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Shell Philippines President and CEO, Lorelie Quiambao Osial opened the event by reaffirming Shell’s commitment as a trusted solutions partner to both public and private sectors. She highlighted how Shell leverages product excellence, advanced technology, and deep expertise to help industries operate more efficiently, sustainably, and competitively.

Adding to this perspective, renowned economist from the University of Asia and the Pacific, Ronilo Balbieran delivered a data-driven assessment of the Philippine economic outlook and its forecast implications for the construction and manufacturing sectors, against the backdrop of global risks and domestic political challenges.

He observed, “While the Philippines is expected to continue its remarkable resilience in its GDP growth, the road ahead requires sharper strategies. While inflation and interest rates are expected to go down, indicators for global economic uncertainties are still highly elevated due to the tariff wars, threatening currency stability, export competitiveness, and supply chain.”

Balbieran concluded, “Success in this evolving landscape will go to those who not only adapt but also invest wisely in technologies and partnerships that drive long-term efficiency and resilience.”

Solutions for a tech-forward future

Responding to these challenges, Shell Product Application Specialist for Asia Pacific, Al Silva showcased Shell’s portfolio of innovative solutions tailored to the evolving needs of construction and manufacturing businesses.
Silva highlighted the vital role of Commercial Fuels in optimizing operations and lowering the total cost of ownership. Specifically designed for bulk commercial customers, these high-quality, performance-tested fuels ensure reliable supply, enhance engine performance, and improve fuel efficiency, helping businesses maximize uptime and reduce operating costs.

He also emphasized Shell’s Commercial Lubricants as a key driver of efficiency and sustainability. These sector-specific formulations reduce emissions, extend equipment life, and lower operating expenses. By boosting fuel economy and minimizing downtime, Shell lubricants help businesses cut costs and maintain peak performance. Shell has proudly held the title of the world’s number one lubricants supplier for 18 consecutive years.

Another key offering in Shell’s tech-forward portfolio is Shell Fleet Solutions, anchored by the trusted Shell Fleet Card. Used by Philippine professional fleets for over 24 years, this solution provides businesses with enhanced control, security, and flexibility. With features such as real-time tracking, customizable spending limits, and exclusive perks, the Shell Fleet Card is an essential tool for streamlining fleet operations, whether managing light commercial vehicles or heavy-duty transport.

“Our formula is simple: combine global expertise with proven product performance to deliver solutions that truly move the needle for our customers,” Silva stated. “We’re continuously innovating to meet the evolving demands of our clients, helping them navigate industry challenges with confidence and resilience.”

The final pillar, Shell Energy, was presented by Bernd Krukenberg, President and CEO of Shell Energy Philippines, who highlighted the company’s expanding portfolio of customized renewable energy solutions designed to help businesses improve operational efficiency while progressing toward net-zero targets. He emphasized that these offerings are particularly valuable for energy-intensive industries such as construction and manufacturing, where companies face mounting pressure to reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing productivity.

By integrating renewable sources like solar and wind into their operations, companies can enhance energy security, lower operational costs, and contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable future.

“As the Philippines’ largest multinational Retail Electricity Supplier, Shell Energy delivers cleaner, flexible, and competitively priced energy solutions tailored for commercial and industrial clients,” Krukenberg said. “With over a century of presence in the Philippines and decades of global expertise in power trading, Shell is uniquely positioned to support businesses on their sustainability journey.”

The Shell Tech Forward: Solutions for the Future event showcased real-world applications of these technologies, showing that they have moved beyond theory and are ready for immediate adoption by businesses. The event also fostered open dialogue between private and public sector leaders and outlined strategic pathways to drive sustainability and competitiveness in the years ahead.
