Globe Connects Local Communities with Legal Experts Through 'Konek kay Attorney'

Globe is turning corporate legal expertise into a force for social good with Konek kay Attorney, an initiative that connects underserved communities directly with the company’s lawyers for free legal guidance. By giving its employees an avenue to advocate beyond the workplace, Globe is actively bridging the justice gap, safeguarding rights, and proving that its commitment to uplifting lives extends far beyond business targets.

In partnership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Rizal-RSM Chapter, Konek kay Attorney offers free one-on-one consultations to qualified beneficiaries, including underserved individuals referred by Globe’s local government and NGO partners, as well as members of the Globe community. The program has also reached partner communities across Taguig, Mandaluyong, and Pasig, bringing legal assistance directly to their barangays.

“Access to legal guidance can make a meaningful difference when people are faced with situations they may not know how to navigate. Through Konek kay Attorney, we want to help people better understand their rights and options, while giving our legal professionals a meaningful way to put their skills in service to others,” said Atty. Marisalve Ciocson-Co, Globe Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President for Legal and Compliance. “It is one way we can use the resources and capabilities within Globe to create a positive impact beyond our business.”

Atty. Eric Paul I. Fetalino, President of the IBP Rizal-RSM Chapter, emphasized that making the law accessible requires bringing legal professionals and communities closer together. “The law can only fulfill its purpose when people can reach it, understand it, and use it. Through Konek kay Attorney, we bring lawyers closer to communities and show what can happen when the private sector and the legal profession bring their respective strengths together for a common social purpose,” he said.

The event brought together leaders from the legal profession, government, and the private sector around a shared commitment to make legal assistance more accessible to communities. Supreme Court Associate Justice and Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) Board Chairperson Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa delivered the keynote address. He then joined representatives of Globe and the IBP to formalize their collaboration through a ceremonial signing.

“A company built around connecting people has found another meaningful way to do precisely that, connecting communities with legal assistance,” Justice Caguioa said. He added that through Konek kay Attorney, Globe and IBP are helping “bring legal assistance closer to people’s homes, workplaces, and communities,” making access to justice more meaningful.

The program also included a fireside chat on online safety featuring actress and advocate Angel Aquino; Atty. Juan Paolo F. Fajardo, Deputy Commissioner of the National Privacy Commission; Atty. Renato “Aboy” Paraiso, Executive Director of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center of the Department of Information and Communications Technology; and Globe Legal Counsel Joseph Malcontento. The discussion covered deepfakes, emerging digital risks, and government online safety initiatives, helping participants better understand how to recognize threats, protect themselves, and exercise their rights in digital spaces.

For Globe, the program reflects a broader approach to employee volunteerism that encourages its people to use their professional skills to respond to real community needs. Through Globe of Good, the company continues to mobilize its people, partnerships, and resources to create opportunities for employees to make a difference through what they do best.

Non-Traditional and Working Learners Risk Being Left Behind in AI Learning Shift, Instructure Study Finds

MANILA, Philippines — Access to artificial intelligence alone does not guarantee effective learning, leaving working, part-time, and remote students at the highest risk of being left behind as Philippine education shifts from basic tech adoption to institutional enablement.

According to a new study by Instructure, the maker of Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), in collaboration with local research firm The Fourth Wall, titled The Great Divide of AI in Lifelong Learning, the country’s next AI divide is not between those who use AI and those who do not but between learners with institutional support and those left to navigate the technology independently.

The research surveyed 207 education practitioners across higher education and technical-vocational institutions in Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao. The findings were unveiled at CanvasCon Philippines 2026 at Conrad Manila, where over 500 educators gathered to discuss operationalizing AI readiness.

The Emerging Support Divide for Non-Traditional Learners

On a 5-point scale, educators rated their confidence that remote, part-time, and working learners will be equally supported as AI reshapes learning at just 2.66—one of the lowest readiness scores in the study.

While AI can make education more flexible, the students who depend most on that flexibility may lack adequate institutional support. Educators named work and livelihood responsibilities (67%) and cost constraints (65%) as the primary barriers to lifelong learning, warning that AI could either ease or compound these frictions depending on whether institutional support becomes as flexible as the learning itself.

“AI adoption is already underway, but institutionalization has yet to catch up. Encouragement isn't the same as structure, clarity, and guidance. If AI isn't connected to a coherent learning strategy, both learners and educators will be left floundering, creating a clear divide between supported and unsupported learners,” said Darren Read, Managing Director, APAC at Instructure.

Compounding this challenge, educators currently lack visibility into whether AI’s benefits are reaching students equitably, rating their institution’s tracking of resource distribution at a low 2.74 out of 5.

"Equity is not only an access problem; it is also a measurement problem. Institutions cannot meaningfully address an AI divide if they cannot see who has access, who is participating, and who is actually benefiting,” said John Brylle L. Bae, Research Director at The Fourth Wall.

AI Implementation Gains Momentum Beyond Experimentation

The survey suggests that AI activity in Philippine higher education is moving beyond early exploration. Half (50%) of surveyed institutions currently offer AI literacy or digital-skills programs for students, while only 18% report still being in the exploration phase without a formal strategy. Additionally, institutions are deploying practical tools, including staff-facing AI systems to support teaching and course design (41%), AI tools integrated directly into course delivery (40%), and AI-powered tutoring assistants (38%).

Despite this momentum, institutional readiness lags behind tool deployment. Educators rated confidence in their institution having a clear AI strategy within lifelong-learning pathways at 3.08 out of 5, while confidence in faculty and staff training fell to 2.87 out of 5. Overall, 43% of respondents cited limited access to devices or paid tools as a primary barrier, while 38% highlighted a lack of formal training and guidance

Regional Bottlenecks and Policy Context

While overall readiness levels did not differ significantly across geographical regions, immediate resource constraints varied. Technology and digital infrastructure emerged as the primary bottleneck in Metro Manila (46%), whereas funding constraints were more prominent in Metro Cebu (45%) and Metro Davao (55%). Metro Cebu respondents also highlighted faculty training as a pressing concern (36%).

To bridge these gaps, the report outlines five core priorities for institutional enablement: expanding physical access to devices and tools; setting clear rules for ethical use; building faculty and learner capability; integrating AI into curricula and lifelong learning pathways; and establishing equity tracking metrics.

The urgency to build institutional readiness comes as the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) issued national guidelines for responsible AI use in higher education. The guidelines require transparency in students’ use of AI and stronger human oversight in consequential areas such as grading, admissions, scholarships, student progression, and faculty evaluation. Against that backdrop, the study’s low readiness scores for faculty training (2.87 out of 5) and equity tracking (2.74 out of 5) suggest many institutions will need dedicated support to put those expectations into practice.

The survey findings reflect the perceptions of education practitioners and provide an indicative view of institutional priorities, practices, and readiness, rather than a nationally representative sample of all Philippine education institutions.

Binance Intelligence Brings AI-Powered Finance to a New Generation of Users

Binance is taking another step toward making financial markets easier to understand and access with the launch of Binance Intelligence, a new AI product stack designed to help users understand financial information, develop strategies, and build AI-powered applications on Binance.

Unveiled during a livestreamed event featuring Binance Co-CEO Richard Teng and VP of Product Jeff Li, Binance Intelligence brings together three core products: Binance AI, Binance AI Pro, and Binance Agent OS. Together, they aim to bridge the knowledge gap between everyday users and experienced market professionals.

Making Financial Information Easier to Understand

Binance AI provides a free, adaptive experience that personalizes financial information according to a user's knowledge level and interests. Instead of requiring users to navigate multiple charts, news sources, research platforms, and on-chain data tools, the system brings relevant information together in one experience.

Features include an adaptive "For You" interface, AI-powered tool tips, personalized market briefs, market and portfolio widgets, and insights covering crypto, stocks, and macroeconomic developments. The AI-generated Market Brief is refreshed every four hours and can be delivered in text or audio.

Turning Ideas Into Strategies

For users looking to take a more active approach, Binance AI Pro functions as a finance-focused AI agent capable of turning natural-language instructions into visualized strategies and automated workflows.

Users can describe an idea such as monitoring their portfolio or exploring diversification across crypto and stocks. The system can then generate an editable workflow without requiring coding skills. Users can refine the strategy through conversation, test strategies through paper trading where available, and approve workflows before execution.

Importantly, users remain in control. Live strategies operate through dedicated sub-accounts funded manually by the user, helping limit an agent's ability to move funds independently.

Giving Developers the Tools to Build

The third component, Binance Agent OS, is designed for developers. The platform connects AI applications and agents with Binance's trading, market data, wallet, payment, and on-chain capabilities.

With support for APIs, the Binance Wallet Agentic Hub, programmable payments, the Skill Hub, and Model Context Protocol (MCP), developers can create financial AI applications with configurable permissions and dedicated sub-accounts.

Together, these technologies represent Binance's broader vision of combining blockchain's accessibility with AI's ability to simplify complex information. As financial markets become increasingly connected, AI-powered tools could play a growing role in helping both newcomers and experienced users navigate the digital economy.

Philippine and International Leaders to Address Higher Education Lifelong Learning and AI Readiness at Instructure’s CanvasCon 2026

MANILA, Philippines — Instructure, the maker of Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), will host CanvasCon Philippines 2026 on October 7, 2026, at Conrad Manila in Pasay City. Anchored on the theme "Shaping Readiness, Together," the flagship, full-day education conference will bring together over 500 higher education leaders, educators, and institutional decision-makers across Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The conference lands at a pivotal juncture for Philippine higher education. Recent policy shifts, curriculum reforms, and growing demand for seamless multi-modal learning have made institutional readiness — the skills, tools, and support needed to adapt as learning and technology evolve — an urgent operational priority. New Philippines-specific research commissioned by Instructure also points to a gap between growing AI activity in education and the institutional strategy, training, and access needed to support its use.

CanvasCon Philippines 2026 offers a peer-led working space designed to help academic leaders transition from reactive strategies to sustainable, future-ready educational frameworks across three core pillars: AI with Intention, Ready to Learn and Ready to Engage, and Skills That Last.

“The Philippines is moving quickly to expand flexible learning, lifelong learning pathways, and digital delivery across higher education. That makes the conversations happening here especially relevant to where education in Asia Pacific is heading. CanvasCon Philippines is a chance to hear directly from local institutions about how they are responding to these shifts, and what it will take to ensure more learners have the skills, tools, and support to be ready for what comes next,” said Darren Read, Managing Director, Asia Pacific at Instructure.

New Philippines research highlights the next stage of AI readiness.

At CanvasCon Philippines, Instructure will unveil findings from its new survey of 207 education practitioners from higher education and technical-vocational institutions across Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao. Conducted in partnership with The Fourth Wall in August 2026, the study explores how participating institutions are approaching lifelong learning, AI readiness, and equitable access to AI-enabled learning.

The findings suggest AI activity is already moving beyond exploration. Half (50%) of respondents report their institutions offer AI literacy or digital-skills programs for students. Respondents also say their institutions provide staff-facing AI tools supporting teaching and course design (41%), AI tools integrated into course content or delivery (40%), and AI-powered tutoring or learning assistants (38%). Only 18% say their institution is still exploring without any current approach.

At the same time, confidence in institutional readiness is more moderate. Respondents rate confidence that their institution has a clear strategy for AI within lifelong-learning pathways at 3.08 out of 5, while confidence that faculty and staff have the training needed to use AI effectively and support diverse learners falls to 2.87 out of 5.

Darren Read and John Brylle Bae, Partner and Research Director at The Fourth Wall, will unpack the findings at CanvasCon, providing local context and exploring what they reveal about the shift from AI use to more intentional, supported, and equitable AI-enabled learning.

The survey findings reflect the perceptions of education practitioners and provide an indicative view of institutional priorities, practices, and readiness; they should not be interpreted as nationally representative of all Philippine education institutions.

The event will put Philippine institutions at the center of the conversation, with educators and leaders from Our Lady of Fatima University, Holy Angel University, University of San Jose Recoletos, De La Salle University, PAREF Woodrose School, University of St. La Salle, Far Eastern University, University of Santo Tomas, and the University of Sydney.

The program will also feature global education leaders, including Zach Pendleton, Chief Architect at Instructure, who brings over a decade of experience guiding the development of Canvas LMS and will share the roadmap for the Instructure Learning Platform and his perspective on how institutions can build resilient digital ecosystems for the future; Professor Martin Bean CBE AM, CEO of The Bean Centre, co-author of Toolkit for Turbulence, and former Vice-Chancellor of RMIT University and The Open University, who will offer strategic frameworks to help institutional leaders navigate disruption and lead proactive change; and Danny Liu, Professor of Educational Technologies at the University of Sydney, co-chair of the university’s AI in Education working group and leader of the Cogniti.ai initiative, who will present a research-backed approach to human-centered, responsible AI adoption in academic environments.

"A decision we make in the platform this quarter shows up in a lecturer's Monday morning three years from now. That's the part of this job I take most seriously. Philippine institutions are moving on curriculum reform, flexible pathways, and AI policy at the same time, and they need technology that can absorb all three without breaking what already works. I'll share where the platform is headed and how we're building it so no institution has to choose between keeping up and staying steady," said Zach Pendleton.

CanvasCon PH 2026 is open to the education community across the country. Participants may now register at instructure.com/en-au/events/canvascon/philippines.

“Customer Is King:” PLDT Champions Customer-Centric Growth at ACC CXO Forum

Hong Kong – As enterprises accelerate their digital transformation journeys amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), PLDT Inc. underscored the importance of customer-centricity, strategic investment, and ecosystem partnerships in driving sustainable growth and long-term business resilience during the inaugural ACC CXO Forum in Hong Kong.

Led and organized by PLDT Global, the ACC CXO Forum in Hong Kong gathered international industry leaders, technology decision-makers, and enterprise executives to explore how organizations are rethinking investment priorities, modernizing infrastructure, and building resilient partnerships to create value in an increasingly digital economy.

For the PLDT Group, the discussion reflects the company's continuing evolution from a traditional telecommunications provider into an integrated digital services partner.

"Customer is king. The way we engage customers has evolved significantly over the years," said Leo I. Posadas, PLDT SVP and Treasurer and PLDT Global CFO. "Previously, customers managed separate relationships for connectivity, wireless, cloud, cybersecurity, and digital services. Today, we bring these together through a cohesive approach, creating one customer view and one integrated conversation."

This integrated engagement model supports the PLDT Group's broader commitment to helping organizations navigate increasingly complex technology environments while simplifying their transformation journeys.

"Going beyond the signal means delivering a full suite of capabilities that help customers achieve their business objectives," Posadas added. "Whether locally or globally, our focus remains on customer experience, customer choice, and customer success."

Procurement's evolving role as a growth enabler

A key theme from the forum was the changing role of procurement, which has evolved from a cost-management function into a strategic business enabler.

PLDT Chief Procurement Officer Louella F. Calixtro emphasized that organizations Today must evaluate suppliers based not only on price but also on their ability to contribute innovation, resilience, and long-term value.

"Procurement is no longer just about achieving savings. It is about shaping investment decisions, influencing where capital is deployed, and identifying partners that can help the organization create sustainable value," she said.

In an environment where supply chain disruptions and technology shifts have become increasingly common, building strong ecosystems has emerged as a strategic priority.

"The conversation has shifted from choosing the supplier with the lowest cost to identifying the partner that can support you throughout your business journey," Calixtro added. "The real measure of a partnership is not the contract itself, but how that partner behaves when challenges emerge."

She noted that resilient ecosystems help organizations maintain business continuity, accelerate innovation, and maximize returns on strategic investments.

Building the future through collaboration

The discussions at the ACC CXO Forum reinforced the importance of collaboration among enterprises, technology providers, and industry partners in shaping the future digital economy. And for the PLDT Group, this means continuing to evolve and serving as a trusted partner that enables growth, innovation, and resilience.

Taiwan Expo Returns to Manila After Generating $53.4 Million in Business Opportunities in 2025

MANILA, Philippines — Building on a 2025 edition that generated 53.4 million dollars in business opportunities and drew over 10,000 buyers, Taiwan Expo returns to the SMX Convention Center Manila from 17 to 19 September with more than 125 Taiwanese exhibitors across technology, sustainability, agriculture, healthcare, and lifestyle.

These Taiwanese enterprises will exhibit under a “National Team” banner, organized by the Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

“Fifty-three million dollars in business opportunities showed us how much appetite there is in this market,” said James C. F. Huang, Chairman of TAITRA. “This year we want to build on that through joint ventures, licensing, and local assembly, so Taiwanese and Philippine companies are building together rather than simply trading. Our measure of success is how many of these connections are still producing value for both sides five years from now.”

The expo sits within a trade relationship that has been expanding steadily. Taiwan and the Philippines traded 6.71 billion dollars in goods in 2024, and bilateral trade rose 8.5 percent in the first seven months of 2025, lifting Taiwan from the Philippines’ eleventh-largest trading partner to its tenth.

Anchoring this year’s program is the Green & Innovation Showcase, which arrives at a moment when Philippine grid reliability and power costs remain live commercial concerns. Taiwanese exhibitors will present battery energy storage systems and hydrogen microgrids designed for island and off-grid deployment, technologies with direct application to the electrification of communities outside the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao grids. Alongside them are certified green building insulation aimed at cutting cooling loads in Philippine commercial developments, AI-powered waste sorting systems for local government units facing rising landfill pressure, and fully biodegradable plant-based drinking straws produced at commercial scale.

The same practical logic runs through the Agritech & Food Pavilion, which addresses yield and labor constraints in Philippine agriculture. Autonomous Mobile Robots reduce dependence on manual field labor, while smart livestock environmental control systems target mortality losses in poultry and swine operations, a recurring cost pressure for Philippine producers. Taiwanese exporters will also present premium Phalaenopsis orchids, high-mountain teas, and specialty foods seeking Philippine distribution partners.

Where agritech tackles productivity on the ground, the Intelligent Technology Pavilion covers the digital layer above it, spanning the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), edge computing, and cybersecurity. Exhibits include collaborative robots for manufacturing lines, forklift safety systems for warehouse and logistics operators, and zero-trust cybersecurity frameworks aimed at Philippine enterprises operating under the Data Privacy Act and rising ransomware exposure.

Healthcare and consumer biotechnology follow in the Beauty & Wellness Pavilion, which combines biotech skincare with medical supplies. Exhibitors will present functional bio-electro devices, anti-counterfeiting technology for pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging, and complete lines of sterile surgical supplies and medical dressings for hospital procurement.

Rounding out the floor, the Premium Lifestyle Pavilion features rPET recycled fabric bags, electric vehicle safety blankets, micrometer towels, memory storage devices, smart wine aerators, and precision bathroom components, most seeking Philippine distributor and retail partners.

What Does the Future of Food Taste Like? Filipinos Get a Taste at Future Menus 2026 Food Trends Adventure

MANILA, Philippines – What does the future of food taste like? That’s what hundreds of guests got to explore for themselves at the Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) Future Menus 2026 Food Trends Adventure last weekend. Held in partnership with GCash for Business, Future Menus transformed the Foro de Intramuros into the home base of a one-of-a-kind food crawl.

The event showcased the culinary ideas shaping how people eat today, and how they may be eating tomorrow. With GCash for Business helping make payments simple and convenient, guests could move seamlessly through the experience and focus on discovering the flavors and trends shaping the future of food.

From Trend Report to Tasting Menu

Future Menus is Unilever Food Solutions’ annual global food trends platform, developed based on extensive research and insights from chefs around the world. This year’s report spotlighted four key trends shaping the future of dining: the resurgence of heritage cuisine, the elevation of street food through more refined techniques, the growing influence of borderless cuisine, and the emergence of more personalized dining experiences.

“Every year, Future Menus brings together insights from chefs, industry experts, consumer behavior, and global food trends to identify the movements that will shape the future of dining. [...] what makes Future Menus truly valuable is [...] translating those insights into practical, profitable solutions that chefs and operators can bring to life in their kitchens immediately,”
says Kat Huang, Country Marketing Head of Unilever Food Solutions.

Throughout the food crawl, guests discovered how these trends translated from concept to plate through dishes from 15 merchants, namely: Backyard BBQ, Bigby’s, Bun Run, Caerus, Chotto Matcha, Fiasfud, H Proper, Itamessy, Mezmars & Mau’s, OnlyPans, Poppy’s Halo Halo, Rebel Bakehouse, Sama Sama, Shawarma Ko, and Soriano’s.

Several dishes from the event that offered a glimpse of these trends included Sama Sama’s Filipino beef pares inside a tender bao – their interpretation of the Borderless Cuisine trend, where chefs borrow techniques and formats from around the world while staying true to the flavors of the dish itself.

Meanwhile, Soriano’s shone a light on a classic Filipino dish with its Beef Morcon, bringing back a traditional fiesta dish hardly found on menus today. It’s the kind of dish that captures the spirit of another trend, Culinary Roots, that celebrates ancestral recipes by making traditional Filipino flavors feel exciting and relevant for a new generation of diners.

For dessert, Poppy’s Halo Halo elevated two well-loved Filipino merienda classics – Halo Halo and Mais Con Yelo – without taking away their nostalgic charm but elevating them through craftsmanship, quality ingredients, and thoughtful presentation.

Together with the rest of the menus presented at the event, these dishes proved that the future of Filipino cuisine isn’t defined by a single look or style, but by the ways chefs and businesses continue to experiment with formats, reinterpret familiar flavours, and respond to consumer tastes.

Powering the Digital Future of Dining

Presented in partnership with GCash for Business, the event also marked the first-ever cashless Future Menus, offering a real-world look at how the dining experience is changing alongside the country’s shift toward digital payments. GCash for Business was selected as the event’s exclusive payment partner, powering the end-to-end payment experience from ticketing through transactions at participating merchant booths.

According to Kate Cruz, B2B Marketing Head of GCash, 60% of food and beverage transactions in the Philippines are already digital. One in five diners pay directly using an e-wallet like GCash, adding, “The shift in consumer behavior is already happening. The opportunity now is to make sure businesses are equipped to keep up.”

For GCash, that means looking beyond the consumer side of digital payments. Every digital buyer, after all, needs a digital seller – and with MSMEs accounting for 90% of businesses in the Philippines, more than 56% of these merchants remain digitally underserved.

“Merchants don’t fear technology; they fear friction,” Cruz said. “Empowering consumers was only half the equation, and now that paying with GCash has become part of Filipinos’ everyday routines, we saw that we needed to shift our attention to bridging the gap for the businesses they’re paying, too.”

At the Food Trends Adventure, GCash for Business had a dedicated booth where restaurants and food business owners could register and apply for their own SoundPay Plus device, a payment solution that accepts multiple payment methods and provides instant audio confirmation for successful transactions.

Across the food crawl experience, GCash for Business also launched a Scan-to-Order feature allowing guests to order and pay directly from where they were instead of waiting in line, further showing how digital tools are streamlining the dining journey and easing the experience for everyone.

As food businesses continue to evolve in response to changing tastes, formats, and consumer expectations, the digital infrastructure supporting them is evolving as well. Through GCash for Business, the Future Menus Food Trends Adventure showed that dining is not only about what ends up on a plate, but also how businesses and consumers connect around it.

The Future Menus 4 report is now available to download for free through the UFS website. To learn how food businesses can streamline operations, simplify payments, and focus on delivering exceptional dining experiences with GCash, visit GCash for Business.

Philippine Blockchain Week 2026 Marks the Shift from Decoding to Deployment

MANILA, Philippines — More than 12,000 local and international delegates gathered at the SMX Convention Center Manila for Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) 2026, transforming the venue into a hub for technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, gaming, entertainment, and public policy.

Held over three days under the theme Decoded: Deployed, the fourth edition marked a turning point in the country's digital transformation. Rather than explaining what blockchain, artificial intelligence, and digital assets can do, PBW 2026 demonstrated how these technologies are already being deployed across government, finance, business, and everyday life.

The event featured over 150 speakers from around the world, with more than half representing international markets, sharing insights on blockchain, AI, cybersecurity, governance, and entrepreneurship.

PBW opened with Future of Trust: A Leaders Forum on Technology and Governance, bringing together senior government officials, regulators, business leaders, and technology pioneers to discuss how emerging technologies can strengthen transparency, governance, and public trust. The forum reinforced a central message: innovation succeeds not only through technology, but through the institutions and partnerships that enable its responsible deployment.

From Vision to Movement

For PBW Co-Founder Chezka Gonzales, the event reflected a vision that began five years ago.

"My personal goal has always been simple: to put Filipinos on the world stage and the Philippines on the global blockchain map—to showcase Filipino talent, innovation, and resilience to the world," she said.

"Philippine Blockchain Week is more than a conference. It's a platform where conversations become partnerships, partnerships become companies, and companies create opportunities for Filipinos," she added.

That vision came alive as startups met investors, enterprises connected with innovators, regulators exchanged ideas with industry leaders, and communities explored new opportunities in the digital economy.

A Global Platform

The event welcomed speakers and delegates from across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America to contribute insights on emerging technologies and digital transformation.

Among the most anticipated speakers was Michael Terpin, widely known as the "Godfather of Crypto."

"The Philippines has been a leader in innovation for many years. Social media has played a major role in incubating new platforms here, and Axie Infinity became a global phenomenon because of the Philippines," he said, further proving that the Philippines is no longer simply participating in the global technology conversation—it is increasingly helping shape it.

PBW 2026 also highlighted the convergence of technology, culture, and community. The launch of Viral PH spotlighted the creator economy, while the ALT+TAB Gaming and Music Festival brought together gaming, esports, music, creators, and live entertainment. Attendees also joined hackathons, startup showcases, esports tournaments, networking sessions, and the Founders Arena, where startups connected with investors and ecosystem partners.

From Conversation to Deployment

The conference theme came to life through discussions on tokenized real-world assets and practical blockchain applications. Varun Chugh, External Financial Advisor of BiGod Token, explained how tokenization is modernizing traditional assets.

"Gold has served as a store of value for centuries, yet it remains one of the most difficult assets to transact. At BiGod, we aim to make that asset simple, accessible, and cross-border. We have already demonstrated this by using our token to facilitate payments here at Philippine Blockchain Week," he said.
His remarks captured the essence of Decoded: Deployed: emerging technologies are no longer future concepts but practical solutions addressing real-world challenges today.

Building the Future Together

Philippine Blockchain Week 2026 was made possible through the support of its sponsors, exhibitors and ecosystem partners, including BiGod Token, Binance by Blockshoals, Vaulnox International, Smashpay Inc., Predict Protocol, Creatachain, Coins.PH, KMC Solutions, MEXC Ventures, O2 Ramp, Orca, Universe Pro, Meteon Run, NSpire, The Executive Centre, Comm&Sense PR, DvCode Technologies, Inc., Naheal, Lumina Events, Wendy's, McDonald's, and San Miguel Beer.

With more than 12,000 attendees, over 150 speakers, and countless collaborations formed, PBW 2026 demonstrated that the Philippines has evolved from an emerging participant into a growing force in the global digital economy.

Decoded: Deployed was more than a theme. It reflected where the industry stands today.

The future is no longer being imagined. It is already being built.

Eastern Communications Highlights Digital Infrastructure as Driver of Regional Growth at CLICKCONEX 2026

NAGA CITY — Eastern Communications underscored the role of digital infrastructure in accelerating regional development during the 10th Convergence of Luzon ICT Champions Conference and Exhibit (CLICKCONEX) 2026.

Co-organized by the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), the Naga City Government, and the ICT Council of Bicol, the conference brought together leaders from government, industry, and the technology sector to discuss digital development and regional competitiveness.

The event featured a distinguished roster of keynote speakers, including Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and Senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan.

As one of the conference’s keynote speakers, Eastern’s Chief Revenue and Innovation Officer, Edsel Paglinawan. Paglinawan discussed how telecommunications infrastructure has evolved from a basic utility into a strategic enabler of innovation, economic growth, and regional digital transformation.

In his presentation, "Beyond Connectivity: Telecommunications Infrastructure as the Growth Engine of Regional Economies," Paglinawan said a nation's progress has traditionally been measured through physical infrastructure such as roads, bridges, airports, and seaports that connect people and commerce. Today, he said, digital infrastructure has become equally critical, enabling the country to connect with the global economy and supporting innovation, productivity, and inclusive regional development.

“Whether it is building international connectivity, strengthening network resiliency, supporting hyperscaler investments, or enabling digital ecosystems, these require collaboration across the industry,” Paglinawan mentions.

As technology continues to evolve, telecommunications companies are the frontliners witnessing how digital infrastructure has transformed from a utility into a growth engine, enabling economic resilience and regional competitiveness. More than connecting people and businesses, telecommunications now empower innovation ecosystems, expand access to digital services, and create opportunities for communities to thrive. For Eastern Communications, the challenge is no longer proving the value of digital infrastructure but ensuring that its benefits are accessible to every Filipino.

“At Eastern Communications, we remain committed to being partners in that journey. Because beyond connectivity, our mission is to help build stronger regions, more competitive businesses, and a more digitally empowered Philippines,” said Paglinawan.

Eastern Communications continues to expand its digital infrastructure and ICT solutions to help businesses and communities accelerate digital transformation across the Philippines.

Coca-Cola Philippines Shares EPR Implementation Perspectives at ASEAN- EU Summit in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines — Government, business, and development leaders recently convened in Cebu for the ASEAN-EU Sustainability Summit 2026, a regional forum focused on practical approaches to environmental and economic challenges across Southeast Asia.

The summit was organized by the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), in partnership with the Philippines’ role as ASEAN Chair, and brought together public and private sector stakeholders to discuss policy alignment, implementation realities, and investment conditions.

Coca-Cola Philippines participated as a sponsor and speaker in the flagship session, “Making Circularity Work: Scaling Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in ASEAN.” Discussions focused on how EPR frameworks can move from policy design to consistent execution on the ground.

As a total beverage company, Coca-Cola shared several considerations for effective EPR systems and to maximize compliance models, including: clear and enforceable regulatory EPR system design; alignment with local collection and recycling infrastructure; inclusion of informal waste workers within recycling value chain and recovery systems; and stronger incentives that support recycled material use and infrastructure investment across the region.

Antonio “Tony” Del Rosario, president of Coca-Cola Philippines, joined fellow panelists from government, ASEAN institutions, and civil society to discuss implementation challenges and lessons from early-stage EPR markets.

“EPR systems work best when design, enforcement, and on-the-ground realities are aligned,” Del Rosario said. “That requires coordination across government, industry, and waste management stakeholders.”

Discussions throughout the summit similarly underscored that successful EPR systems require coordinated action across governments, businesses, financial institutions, waste management stakeholders, and communities. Speakers also highlighted the importance of ensuring that frameworks remain practical and locally relevant, recognizing the differing levels of infrastructure and market maturity across ASEAN economies.

Coca-Cola Philippines referenced examples from its local experience supporting collection and recycling efforts locally. These include Tapon to Ipon, a collection initiative now operating through more than 6,000 community drop-off points nationwide, and partnerships focused on waste recovery and recycling infrastructure. The company also noted the role of its philanthropic arm, the Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, in supporting programs that engage informal waste workers in the recycling value chain.

The company also cited PETValue Philippines, the country’s first bottle-to-bottle PET recycling facility established through a joint venture between Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines, and Indorama Ventures, as an example of private sector investment contributing to domestic recycling capacity.

Speakers across the summit emphasized that EPR outcomes depend on consistent implementation, investment-enabling policies, political stability, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration across markets, particularly given differences in infrastructure maturity across ASEAN economies.

Coca-Cola Philippines said it will continue to engage with government, industry peers, and community partners as EPR frameworks evolve across Southeast Asia.

MARKETOUR Ignites Responsible Storytelling in Philippine Tourism

On June 11, 2026, the Bulwagang Balagtas at Polytechnic University of the Philippines — Manila became a hub for thoughtful conversation on the future of travel. MARKETOUR: Redefining Destinations Through Immersive Experiences, organized by the P1ONEERS Production, invited students and young professionals to rethink destination marketing and to place community, culture, and responsibility at the center of tourism narratives.

Spearheaded by project heads Ryjam Keanril T. Garcia, Mariella A. Orbeta, and Kevin N. Tubieron, MARKETOUR blended academic inquiry with real-world practice. The daylong program drew marketing and tourism students eager to learn how storytelling, cultural sensitivity, and creative strategy can transform ordinary places into meaningful experiences without exploiting their people or heritage. Keynote and panel speakers drove the event’s message home.

Creative directors Ms. Mica Dela Rosa and Mr. Caleb Cosico of BBDO Guerrero shared case studies from influential campaigns like Philippine Airlines Safetynovela and It’s More Fun in the Philippines. They emphasized that effective tourism marketing does not require sensationalism; rather, it succeeds when campaigns are rooted in genuine human connection and a respect for local contexts.

Their insights encouraged attendees to prioritize authenticity and responsible representation when developing campaigns. Digital storyteller and travel filmmaker Mr. Renzo Maano added a creator’s perspective, urging content producers to move beyond chasing virality. He underscored creators’ ethical duty to highlight the lives, voices, and traditions behind every destination, rather than reducing communities to mere backdrops. His field-based anecdotes offered practical guidance on how to balance engaging visuals with respectful narrative framing.

Adding a powerful voice on representation, Ms. Anna Carres De Mesa—Miss Tourism Worldwide 2026 and Miss World Philippines 2026 First Princess—spoke about the role of ambassadors and influencers in modeling culturally sensitive tourism promotion. Her remarks reinforced the event’s call to elevate community-led stories and to ensure that tourism amplifies, rather than erases, local identity.

The program was punctuated by dynamic performances that showcased Filipino artistry and enlivened the forum. Theatro Lumino Dance Company, singer Felicity Sasis, and the p-pop boy group BILIB delivered performances that complemented the event’s themes of culture and creativity, creating moments of emotional resonance between speakers and the audience.

MARKETOUR’s core advocacy—“Marketing with Purpose, Traveling for the Future”—challenged attendees to embrace a tourism practice that honors ecosystems, preserves heritage, and uplifts communities economically and culturally. Workshops and Q&A sessions equipped students with frameworks for ethically minded campaigns and actionable tips for community engagement, research, and co-creation.

By bringing together industry experts, creators, and aspiring marketers, MARKETOUR fostered a new generation of thoughtful storytellers committed to sustainable tourism. The event reminded participants that tourism’s true value lies not in likes or visitor counts but in the dignity and well-being of the people who call destinations home.

As the students return to classrooms and field projects, MARKETOUR’s message will continue to reverberate: when marketing is guided by integrity and respect, travel becomes an opportunity for meaningful exchange—one that preserves culture, supports communities, and ensures destinations remain vibrant for generations to come.

Globe Drives Youth-Led Advocacy for Online Safety in Western Visayas

Globe is empowering young Filipinos in Western Visayas to become champions of online safety and responsible digital behavior through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), strengthening efforts to create safer and more informed communities in an increasingly connected world.

Through recent learning sessions in Negros Occidental and Iloilo, Globe equipped more than 440 young Filipinos with practical knowledge on cybersecurity, digital responsibility, and safer online behavior, helping shape a generation that is more informed, vigilant, and accountable in the digital space.

At Carlos Hilado Memorial State University in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, 243 first-year Criminology students participated in an interactive DTP session held during the university’s University Week celebration. Conducted in partnership with the school’s Criminology Department under Globe’s Win the Youth Program, the activity focused on pressing digital concerns faced by today’s youth, including online threats, privacy protection, responsible social media use, and maintaining a secure digital footprint.

“As digital platforms become an essential part of everyday life, empowering the youth with the right knowledge and mindset is more important than ever. Through the Digital Thumbprint Program, Globe continues to help young Filipinos become more responsible digital citizens who can contribute to creating safer online communities,” said Jun Juada, Territory Business Head for Western Visayas.

Globe also brought DTP to the SK Federation Youth Summer Summit in Iloilo, where more than 200 youth participants joined discussions on digital citizenship and online safety led by DTP Territory Ambassador Iris Nonato Adorador. The session encouraged youth leaders to champion positive digital behavior and promote cybersecurity awareness within their respective communities.

These initiatives support Globe’s broader advocacy to strengthen digital safety education among Filipino learners and communities nationwide. During Safer Internet Month in February 2026, Globe’s DTP sessions reached over 16,560 students and educators through discussions centered on cybersecurity, privacy, child protection, and responsible technology use.

Since its launch in 2016, the Digital Thumbprint Program has reached more than two million students and educators across the country. The initiative has also been integrated into the Department of Education’s K to 12 curriculum in public schools, reinforcing its role in promoting responsible digital participation among Filipino youth.

Marking its 10th year in 2026, DTP continues to evolve to address emerging digital realities. Its expanded curriculum now includes 36 stackable modules tackling topics such as AI ethics, digital etiquette, Philippine cyber laws, and digital rights, ensuring learners are equipped to navigate the fast-changing digital landscape.

Through sustained collaboration with schools, local government units, youth organizations, and community partners, Globe continues to advance its vision of a safer, kinder, and more digitally empowered Philippines.

Trust, Technology, and Governance Take Focus at Future of Trust Leaders Forum

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Trust is the new infrastructure. As data, money, and identity move deeper into the digital world, systems have to be built to protect them. This will be the focus of Future of Trust: A Leaders Forum on Technology and Governance, the pre-opening event of Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) 2026.

This invitation-only forum will gather senior leaders from the global technology ecosystem, the business community, and government agencies to discuss ways to address the challenges of the digital age through the establishment of trusted systems across finance, governance, and digital services.

"Every great economy is built on trust. What blockchain gives us is the infrastructure to make that trust verifiable, scalable, and impossible to fake,” said Management Association of the Philippines President, Donald Lim.

To answer how trust is built in a digital world, the forum organizes the conversation into three interconnected pillars. Technology lays the infrastructure through blockchain, digital identity, and AI governance. Governance sets the rules through the policies and frameworks that make digital systems legitimate and accountable. Lastly, Trust Economies show the stakes through the markets, capital, and ecosystems that rise or fall on whether trust can be verified and sustained.

The forum is an initiative of the country's leading emerging technology councils and organizations — the Global AI Council Philippines, the Blockchain Council of the Philippines, Cybersecurity Council of the Philippines, and Data Center Association of the Philippines — with support from Go Digital Philippines and other private organizations, bringing together the full breadth of expertise needed to move these conversations from dialogue into action.

These are not abstract concepts for the Philippines; they are already taking shape on the ground. Key government agencies, including the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Information and Communications Technology, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Budget and Management, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), are already embedding digital governance into their operations.

Two local government units have also gone live on blockchain, proving that this technology has moved well beyond the boardroom and into the hands of the communities it has always been meant to serve.

Future of Trust is a fitting opener for this year’s Philippine Blockchain Week – setting the tone for national and regional dialogue on meaningful and accessible digital transformation.

“Emerging technologies are reshaping how governments, businesses, and communities operate. The opportunity is immense, but so is the responsibility to create governance frameworks that ensure transparency, accountability, and meaningful safeguards for the public,” said Atty. Mark Gorriceta, Co-Founder and Trustee of the Blockchain Council of the Philippines and Go Digital Philippines Chair.

While Future of Trust is by-invitation-only, PBW 2026 ticket holders may secure their slot at this landmark forum.rite to info@pbw.ph to find out more.

Meanwhile, the Integrity Chain, a blockchain-powered transparency initiative, has completed its first phase with the DPWH and is now moving into its second, showing that blockchain as an anti-corruption infrastructure is no longer a theory but a reality.

GOAB and Symph.co Launch AI Implementation Masterclass in Makati

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries worldwide, many businesses are still struggling to move from AI discussions to real-world implementation. To help bridge this gap, Geeks On A Beach (GOAB) and Symph.co are launching the AI Implementation Masterclass: Bridging the Gap from Strategy to Execution on May 22, 2026, in Makati City.

The event is designed to help organizations move beyond AI hype and focus on practical execution. Unlike traditional conferences that concentrate on theories and trends, this five-hour intensive workshop will guide participants through actionable frameworks, live strategy sessions, and implementation planning that can be immediately applied to their businesses.

Leading the masterclass is Tim Santos, a globally recognized AI practitioner based in London. Santos currently serves as Director of Product at Graphcore, a leading innovator in AI hardware and advanced chip technology. As a UK-based Filipino and lead author of the Philippine AI Report 2025, Santos brings both international expertise and deep local insight into the evolving AI landscape in the Philippines.

According to Santos, implementing AI in the Philippines requires a localized approach rather than simply copying strategies from Silicon Valley. Drawing insights from 175 Philippine organizations included in the Philippine AI Report 2025, he aims to help Filipino businesses maximize AI adoption while building sustainable systems suited to the country’s unique business environment.

The masterclass will feature a structured three-phase sprint designed to provide participants with a clear roadmap toward AI adoption. The first phase will examine data-driven findings from the Philippine AI Report 2025 to better understand the local landscape. The second phase will involve a live strategy sprint using Large Language Models (LLMs) and proven frameworks to identify high-return AI use cases. Finally, participants will develop a practical 30-60-90-day roadmap that organizations can immediately execute after the workshop.

The organizers are encouraging “Strategic Duos” to attend the event. These pairs consist of a business decision-maker, such as a CEO or founder, alongside a technical executor, such as a CTO or product lead. This approach ensures that AI strategies are aligned both commercially and technically.

The masterclass will take place at Zero-Ten Park Manila Makati, a Japanese-founded co-working space located at the Frabelle Business Center in Legazpi Village, Makati City. Following the workshop, Santos will also conduct two exclusive 90-minute private advisory sessions for selected companies seeking deeper guidance on their AI strategies.

Interested participants may register through the official event page or contact hello@geeksonabeach.com for more information.
