Globe Partners with Grab to Strengthen Network Optimization Through Real‑World Insights

Globe, the country’s most reliable and consistent mobile network, has partnered with Grab and its driver-partners to capture real‑world data on connectivity strength and consistency across Metro Manila. This integration transforms everyday trips into live data‑gathering missions, allowing Globe to continuously measure and optimize its network performance in actual conditions. By leveraging Grab’s extensive driver community, Globe gains unprecedented visibility into how its network performs across diverse routes, traffic patterns, and time periods.
During the survey period, over one hundred Grab driver-partners collected more than 20,000 Globe network samples, providing a ground‑truth perspective on coverage and performance. This initiative enabled Globe to capture performance in high‑traffic and previously untested areas, identify poor coverage zones for targeted improvements, and benchmark live, dynamic data during actual rides for stronger accuracy.

The resulting insights will allow Globe and Grab to collaborate on network enhancements that directly impact subscribers’ daily digital journeys, from booking rides to ordering deliveries. At the same time, the initiative also optimizes the connectivity experience of Grab drivers-partners themselves, ensuring better accuracy in navigation and a more seamless overall app performance. By strengthening both customer and driver experiences, the partnership delivers a more reliable and efficient digital ecosystem that supports everyday mobility and convenience.

“This partnership gives us clarity from the ground up. By working with Grab and its dedicated fleet of driver-partners, we’re able to see how our network performs in real life and use that data to make meaningful improvements for their drivers and our customers,” said Eric Tanbauco, Vice President of Consumer Mobile Business at Globe.

Through this collaboration, Globe reinforces its commitment to delivering reliable connectivity as a lifeline for an inclusive digital economy.

Shopee Takes Tatak Pinoy Roadshow to Visayas and Mindanao, Accelerating Digital Growth for MSMEs Across the Country

Manila, Philippines — Shopee is bringing its Tatak Pinoy MSME Roadshow to more provinces in Visayas and Mindanao, reinforcing its commitment to helping Filipino entrepreneurs tap into e-commerce. Started in August last year, the program has since drawn strong participation from its earlier legs, reflecting the growing appetite for digital skills training among regional entrepreneurs. The Bacolod City leg continues the Visayas run, with Shopee set to expand to additional provinces as the initiative scales nationwide. This expansion aims to provide digital upskilling opportunities to hundreds of MSME sellers in underserved regions outside Metro Manila.

The Tatak Pinoy Roadshow builds on Shopee's decade-long mission to empower Filipino small businesses. In partnership with local government units and the Department of Trade and Industry, the program delivers hands-on training and guidance to help MSMEs establish and grow their online presence.

“Across the Philippines, we’re seeing more entrepreneurs recognize the potential of e-commerce to grow their businesses,” said Jack Ng, Head of Commercial, Shopee Philippines. “With Tatak Pinoy, we aim to meet MSMEs where they are, particularly in regions with limited access to digital training resources. By expanding the roadshow across Visayas and Mindanao, we want to unlock the untapped potential of these regional businesses and provide them with the tools and knowledge to succeed online.”

The Tatak Pinoy Roadshow has consistently drawn strong participation from entrepreneurs eager to grow their businesses online. For the Bacolod leg, the event expects to draw around 100 participants, highlighting growing interest in digital commerce across the region.

This builds on the program’s strong momentum in 2025, when attendance consistently surpassed targets. Last year, Shopee trained over 700 MSME sellers across 10 cities nationwide, providing hands-on sessions in digital marketing, order fulfillment, and customer engagement to support their growth. These practical workshops equip participants to manage day-to-day operations and grow their businesses confidently online.

Addressing key barriers for regional entrepreneurs

While enthusiasm for e-commerce is high, many regional entrepreneurs face challenges when transitioning from informal businesses to fully operational online stores. Common hurdles include business formalization, securing permits, and managing multiple responsibilities with small teams—from packaging and inventory management to customer service.

The Tatak Pinoy curriculum supports MSMEs at every stage of their digital journey, providing guidance on online store setup, business registration, and order and logistics management through Shopee’s ecosystem of tools and services.

“Our experience from the roadshow has shown that the passion and entrepreneurial drive are already there,” Ng added. “What MSMEs need and what we see regional entrepreneurs will also benefit from is the right guidance and support to turn their drive into sustainable growth. Through Tatak Pinoy, we’re working with local government partners to provide practical training that helps sellers overcome early hurdles and build stronger businesses online.”

Local partnerships power regional MSME growth

The Bacolod stop also underscores the importance of strong public-private collaboration in supporting MSME development at the community level.

“Bacolod has always been a city that champions the spirit of local enterprise, and we are proud to welcome the Tatak Pinoy Roadshow to our community,” said Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya. “This program speaks directly to our commitment to creating an environment where our entrepreneurs can thrive, not just locally, but in the digital economy that is reshaping how business is done across the country.”

“What excites me most about Tatak Pinoy is that it gives our local sellers a real and practical path forward,” Mayor Gasataya added. “The skills and tools they gain here can help them compete not just within Bacolod, but with sellers anywhere in the Philippines, and that kind of reach is what will sustain our city’s economic growth for years to come.”

Mae Ferrer-Llamas, Ph.D., Head of Bacolod City’s Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, also emphasized the role of partnerships in enabling inclusive digital growth for small businesses. “Empowering MSMEs to participate in the digital economy requires collaboration between the private sector, government, and local communities,” said Dr. Llamas. “Programs like Tatak Pinoy play an important role in helping entrepreneurs develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in online commerce.”

As the Tatak Pinoy Roadshow continues nationwide, Shopee remains committed to building an inclusive e-commerce ecosystem, one that empowers Filipino entrepreneurs from every region to grow their businesses and reach customers across the country.

PSA, Pilipinas Teleserv, GCash Launch First In-App PSAHelpline Service, Making PSA Documents Easier to Request via GCash

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Pilipinas Teleserv, and GCash joined forces to launch the PSAHelpline Mini App, making it easier and more convenient for Filipinos to request civil registry documents anytime, anywhere.

Users can securely request PSA certificates, such as birth, marriage, death, CENOMAR, and CENODEATH, and choose between an e-copy or home delivery, all while paying seamlessly with their GCash e-wallets. The integration brings essential government services closer to millions of Filipinos through a platform they already use daily.

With this launch, GCash becomes the first e-wallet to host PSAHelpline.ph in-app and the first to offer PDF civil registry certificates directly within the app. PSAHelpline is also the first government service available on GLife.

The PSAHelpline Mini App is designed to streamline the end-to-end process of requesting civil registry documents, from placement of requests to payment and delivery, reducing barriers for those in remote areas and ensuring timely, secure, and reliable access to vital records.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners, the PSA and Teleserv, for the trust and for being our first government service app to be integrated inside GCash,” said Cleo Celeste Santos, VP and Head of Public Sector at GCash.

“At GCash, we believe financial inclusion starts with identity. By making essential civil registry documents easier to access, we are helping more Filipinos participate in the digital economy and access the opportunities they deserve,” she added.

The partnership between PSA, Pilipinas Teleserv, and GCash set a strong precedent for future digital government initiatives, showing what is possible when the public and private sectors work together.

“The PSA Helpline Mini App within the GCash app simplifies how Filipinos request civil registry documents by integrating secure requests and payments into a trusted digital platform. This partnership reflects our vision of a citizen-centered and digitally enabled government that delivers faster, more convenient public service to every Filipino wherever they may be,” PSA National Statistician, Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa said.

Data privacy and security are critical, as millions of Filipinos rely on PSA-issued documents for various important transactions, including employment, education, travel, benefits, and legal matters. Pilipinas Teleserv, PSA’s long-standing partner for the PSAHelpline service, highlighted that the GCash infrastructure further reinforces the integrity of the document request process.

“GCash has a robust KYC process, which PSAHelpline will fully leverage to ensure that only document owners and properly authorized requesters can apply for PSA certificates”, Pilipinas Teleserv Managing Director and Founder Jun Yupitun said.

The PSAHelpline Mini App streamlines the entire process, from request to payment and delivery, helping reduce barriers, especially for those in remote areas.

TESDA Taps Bossjob’s AI-Powered Platform Through ‘Skills Passport’ App to Accelerate Tech-Voc Employment

Manila, PhilippinesBossjob, the chat-first career platform for professional hiring in Southeast Asia (SEA), has partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to bridge the gap between industry-standard skills and actual employment, ensuring a more efficient transition from graduation to the workforce of technical vocational education and training (TVET) graduates.

By integrating Bossjob’s AI-powered recruitment engine into the newly launched TESDA Skills Passport Mobile Application, the partnership provides a digital infrastructure designed to modernize the Philippines’ TVET ecosystem.

The partnership was formally announced during the official launch of the TESDA Skills Passport Mobile Application on February 5, 2026, at the Makabagong San Juan Theater in San Juan City. President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. graced the event and highlighted the administration's commitment to skills development as a national agenda during his speech.

"Para sa ating TESDA scholars, mayroon kayong sariling digital storage kung saan mapapatunayan ang inyong National Certificate at mga training," said President Marcos Jr.

Beyond job matching, Bossjob utilizes aggregated, anonymized platform data to provide TESDA with Labor Market Information (LMI). This framework offers insights into in-demand roles, geographic hiring patterns, and compensation trends, allowing TESDA to calibrate its training curricula to meet evolving market requirements.

According to TESDA’s current data, the sectors seeing the highest volume of postings for TESDA-certified talent include Social, Community Development, and Other Services; Wholesale, Retail, and Trading; Information and Communications Technology (ICT); Automotive and Land Transportation; Tourism, related to the Hotel and Restaurant industry; Healthcare Services; Creative; and Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishery. The sectors indicate a consistent, high-growth demand for skills-based and nationally certified talent across the Philippine economy.

The partnership directly addresses the ‘middle-skills gap,' as identified by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). While TVET graduates demonstrate earning potential comparable to university undergraduates, research shows that current training systems often struggle to align with the evolving competencies required by priority sectors—such as digital services, renewable energy, and ICT.

By integrating Bossjob’s AI-matching engine into the Skills Passport, the platform bridges this gap, transforming verified TESDA certifications into a real-time, visible asset for employers.

“The integration of Bossjob's AI-powered capabilities into the Skills Passport app provides real-time access to available job opportunities for our graduates. This partnership strengthens job security for TVET graduates and contributes to broader economic development by ensuring industry-ready talent is matched with employers with minimal friction,” said Anthony Garcia, Co-Founder of Bossjob.

To ensure employer trust, the app mandates registration via the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). By directly integrating data from TESDA-accredited training centers, the platform ensures all certifications are verified instantly, mitigating the risk of credential fraud.

Bossjob has been championing the TVET industry since 2024. The platform was a key partner of the TESDA-National Capital Region (TESDA-NCR) under its CollaboraTVET: Forging Partnerships for TVET Excellence program, where it offered specialized training programs tailored to the needs of TESDA graduates, along with exclusive job opportunities and career development resources.

Beyond the app integration, Bossjob continues to be committed to helping TESDA students and graduates through career coaching and job readiness workshops, resume and profile optimization guidance, and participating in career fairs led by partner government sectors.

For more information on Bossjob’s latest initiatives and to explore career opportunities, visit bossjob.ph or download the Bossjob app.

Buenas PH Partners With ‘Pinoy Pawnstars’ Boss Toyo to Champion Community Impact Through CSR Arm Buenas Cares

Manila, Philippines – Popular Filipino content creator Boss Toyo has been named the lead ambassador for Buenas Cares, the official charitable arm of PAGCOR-regulated gaming platform Buenas PH. This partnership reinforces the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community development beyond digital entertainment.

Best known for his “Pinoy Pawnstars” persona, where he evaluates the value, integrity, and legacy of unique items, Boss Toyo brings the same philosophy to Buenas Cares. The initiative focuses on putting “real value” back into Filipino communities by channeling a portion of the platform’s profits into relief distribution, disaster response in far-flung areas, and sustainable livelihood programs among Buenas PH's charitable efforts.

“Pumasok ako sa Buenas Cares kasi they told me they will support me sa mga charity work na isi-spearhead ko,” said Boss Toyo. “Alam naman natin na this is business, pero in return, mayo’n kasing sinusuklian, hindi ‘yong puro kabig lang.”

(“I joined Buenas Cares because they committed to supporting the charity work I’ll be spearheading. We all know this is a business, but it has to be a two-way street—it shouldn’t just be about taking.”)

A cornerstone of this partnership is the “Balik Buhay” program, which provides rehabilitation support for individuals recovering from drug dependency and gambling addiction. This mission is deeply personal for the content creator.

“I was also drug dependent for nine years when I was young. Kaya ayoko rin makita ‘yong sinasayang na oras ng mga kabataan,” he shared. “If we can't do anything about prevention, then let's at least focus on the cure—to help them out, too,” the content creator said.

("I was also drug-dependent for nine years when I was younger. That’s why I hate seeing young people waste their time. If we can't do anything about prevention, then let's at least focus on the cure—to help them out, too.")

Other key projects of the charity arm include the “Lolo’t Lola Love Fund,” which aims to provide grocery and medicine kits to the elderly, and the “Ligtas Ka-Buenas Bag,” a complete survival kit distributed to households in high-risk areas to assist families during natural calamities.

The establishment of Buenas Cares formalizes Buenas PH’s dedication to transforming business growth into tangible public service. Looking ahead, the program aims to strengthen responsible gaming by combating the rise of illegal or scam gaming sites through education, providing educational support by establishing structured scholarship programs for underprivileged students, and forging strategic partnerships with accredited NGOs and Local Government Units (LGUs) for long-term efforts.

“At Buenas PH, we believe our success is only as meaningful as the lives we touch. Through Buenas Cares, we aim to show that a regulated, responsible platform can—and should—be a force for good in the Philippines. By partnering with Boss Toyo, we are moving beyond entertainment to ensure that genuine value is returned to the communities that need it most,” said Ellen Joy Almanza, managing consultant of Buenas PH.

As a Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) licensed platform, Buenas PH operates under strict regulatory standards to safeguard users. This includes identity verification protocols, data protection, deposit limits, and self-exclusion tools to ensure a safe environment for all players.

With Boss Toyo fronting the initiative, Buenas Cares emphasizes that regulated platforms can leverage their success to drive purpose-driven action, showing that entertainment and social responsibility can thrive hand in hand.

Eastern Champions Sustainability with First Gen Partnership to Power Makati HQ and Key Tech Sites with Renewable Energy

Renewable energy (RE) utilization of Eastern Communications (Eastern Comms) across its offices and operations centers increases from 2% to 10%, marking a significant and measurable milestone in environmental performance and operational reliability.

The boost in RE use comes as Eastern Comms completes its transition to geothermal energy, following a strategic partnership with First Gen Corporation (First Gen).

Through this partnership, First Gen will supply geothermal energy to power the telco provider’s Makati headquarters and key Technical Operations Centers (TOCs), reinforcing the Eastern Comms’ view that future-ready digital infrastructure must be supported by clean, resilient energy.

“This partnership represents a clear step forward in how we power our operations,” said Atty. Aileen Regio, Co-coordinator of Eastern Comms. “By integrating geothermal energy into key facilities, we are reinforcing the resilience of our core infrastructure. Sustainability, for us, is directly linked to service continuity and long-term performance.”

The geothermal energy is sourced from facilities in Leyte, reinforcing the role of indigenous renewable resources in securing the country’s energy future. For Eastern Comms, the partnership ensures that critical network facilities—those that keep enterprises connected—are backed by stable, dependable power while also lowering carbon emissions.

The transition is enabled by the government’s Retail Competition Open Access (RCOA) program, which allows large electricity consumers to directly contract with power suppliers. Through RCOA, Eastern Comms is able to make deliberate energy choices that align with its long-term sustainability strategy while strengthening efficiency across its facilities.

“Increasing our renewable utilization is a concrete milestone. Together with the 222 kW solar capacity already supporting our Makati HQ and TOCs, our adoption of renewable geothermal energy strengthens our ability to operate efficiently while aligning with national climate priorities and the broader shift toward a circular economy,” said Jaeson Evangelista, Co-coordinator of Eastern Comms.

The renewable energy shift forms part of the telco provider’s ongoing infrastructure modernization initiatives, which include intelligent automation upgrades, energy-efficient systems, and phased disaster resilience projects designed to fortify its facilities and core network. These investments reflect the company’s 2026 direction, “Dare To Soar,” anchored on innovation, reliability, and responsible growth.

As Eastern Communications advances its “Dare To Soar” direction, the partnership with First Gen demonstrates how digital innovation and sustainability are becoming increasingly interconnected. Powering critical facilities with renewable energy is a strategic move to build a more resilient, future-ready network.

PLDT Sustains Nationwide Starlink Services for Remote Enterprises and Communities

PLDT Enterprise continues to strengthen its position in satellite-enabled connectivity, building on its 2025 launch of Starlink services, which has made it the first and only telecom unit to become an Authorized Starlink Reseller serving both the public and private sectors.

With the service already live and maximized by government agencies and enterprise customers – such as the provincial government of Camarines Sur and SMS Global Technologies Inc. (SMSGT) – Starlink supports mission-critical operations, digital services for local communities, and resilient connectivity for education, healthcare, and disaster response.

Since becoming an Authorized Starlink Reseller, the corporate business arm of PLDT Inc. (PLDT) has been actively integrating Starlink’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology into its portfolio of enterprise-grade internet solutions. This has enabled organizations in geographically isolated, disaster-prone, and hard-to-reach areas across the country to stay connected. “Within a year of deployment, Starlink has reached customers across the public sector, agriculture, banking, and other key industries – underscoring the accelerating adoption of satellite connectivity as a practical, enterprise-grade solution, particularly in underserved locations,” says Blums S. Pineda, PLDT SVP and Head of the Enterprise Business Group.

With Starlink now part of PLDT Enterprise’s connectivity offerings, organizations can deploy satellite internet connectivity not just as primary access in remote locations, but also as a resilient backup for mission-critical operations. Furthermore, Pineda highlights that Starlink’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite provides capabilities beyond a standalone service. “We have been delivering it as part of a fully managed, end-to-end connectivity ecosystem across the PLDT Enterprise Business Group – integrating fiber, wireless, managed SD-WAN, cybersecurity, data centers, and cloud solutions – allowing businesses to achieve resilience and scale through a single, trusted partner," he explains.

PLDT Enterprise’s satellite strategy forms part of the PLDT Group’s broader commitment to expanding digital access through multiple, complementary technologies. Within PLDT Group, different satellite solutions are being developed to serve distinct market needs, designed for sectors such as logistics, energy, banking, agriculture, education, healthcare, disaster response, and public service delivery – where high availability and resilient connectivity, backed by the country’s most extensive digital infrastructure, is critical.

GCash Enables Seamless Cashless Payouts for Quezon City Scholars

The Quezon City Government, through the Youth Development Office (YDO), has begun disbursing scholarship grants through GCash as part of its efforts to make education support more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of youth scholars across the city. This partnership allows students to receive and use financial assistance with greater ease and flexibility.

Under the cashless setup, scholarship funds are credited directly to scholars’ GCash wallets, reducing delays and removing the need for in-person collection or manual processing. Scholars can use their grants for tuition and other education-related expenses, while the inclusion of GCash Visa Cards allows funds to be spent both online and at physical merchants that accept card payments.

The new system gives scholars greater control over day-to-day education costs such as books, school supplies, transportation, and meals, while also minimizing the risks and inconvenience associated with handling cash, particularly for students managing full academic schedules.

Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte said the initiative reflects the city’s commitment to making public services more practical and accessible for young people.

"Ngayon, sa pamamagitan ng pagdisburse natin ng scholarship via GCash, mas madali at convenient na para sa ating scholars ang kanilang pagbabayad sa tuition at iba pang pangangailangan sa pag-aaral tulad ng books, supplies at maging pang-araw-araw ng pagkain. Sa malawak na acceptance at paggamit ng GCash, lalo na dito sa Quezon City, maaari na mag full cashless ang ating mga kabataan." mayor Belmonte emphasized.

The program is also supported by financial literacy sessions, and helping scholars develop safe and responsible digital finance habits as they move toward greater financial independence.

City officials said the move to cashless scholarship payouts strengthens transparency and efficiency in public service delivery, ensuring that education assistance reaches intended beneficiaries on time and allows scholars to focus on their studies and long-term goals.

By integrating scholarship disbursement with digital tools, GCash helps Quezon City scholars access their grants more conveniently and safely, supporting their day-to-day educational needs while giving them early experience with managing funds in a digital environment.

PLDT and Smart Deploy New Technologies, Strengthen Partnerships to Boost Connectivity in GIDAs

Connecting an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands requires multiple solutions to ensure that the benefits of faster, more reliable, and more affordable internet can reach more Filipinos, enabling hybrid work set-ups, online learning, and the delivery of e-government and e-healthcare services in remote and far-flung areas.

To achieve this, leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc (PLDT) and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc (Smart) continued to invest in network infrastructure and innovative technologies, as well as tightened their collaboration with government and industry stakeholders to overcome the challenges of connecting remote and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).

"Our mission is simple: to deliver better internet that costs less and reaches more Filipinos, especially those in far-flung areas. By working hand-in-hand with our partners in government, we believe we can roll out a stronger, more resilient network faster and more efficiently," said Menardo G. Jimenez, PLDT Chief Operating Officer and Network Head and PLDT representative to the Presidential Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC).

Last year, PLDT and Smart explored innovative connectivity solutions to overcome deployment challenges in hard-to-reach locations. PLDT tested Radisys point-to-multipoint broadband wireless access technology, which delivers fiber-like speeds over-the-air through a single base node connecting to remote radio nodes in customer premises. The company also piloted Google’s Taara laser communication technology, delivering fiber-like speeds using beams of light instead of undersea or underground cables, to sites like Talim Island in Rizal, Dipaluda in Isabela and Bagong Pag-asa in Quezon City. Smart has also partnered with Lynk Global to enable direct-to-device satellite-powered mobile connectivity, allowing users to send SMS and use apps like WhatsApp even when cell services are unavailable.

Collaboration is key

Aside from leveraging these technologies, PLDT and Smart also worked closely with government agencies, local government units, and PSAC to streamline permitting processes, remove bottlenecks in network builds, and fast-track network rollouts, ensuring that connectivity reaches communities that need it most.

Boosting their public and private collaborations to ultimately benefit millions of Filipinos who depend on strong, stable connections for work, learning, and safety, PLDT and Smart have further solidified their partnership with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), National Electrification Administration (NEA), tower companies, and other industry stakeholders, and continued to lead discussions highlighting Executive Order No. 32 and other regulatory policies aimed at accelerating network deployment and improving digital access nationwide.

With PSAC and other major fixed-line telcos, PLDT is also boosting connectivity for state universities and colleges in support of the government's efforts to enhance the delivery of education across the country and is in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Under "Konektadong CHED", PLDT envisions to expand connectivity to 220 SUCs by the first quarter this year, with the goal of reaching all 555 SUCs nationwide, benefiting between 5,000 to 10,000 learners and teachers per institution.

Smart is also supporting the government's Bayanihan SIM initiative, which aims to bring mobile data connectivity to GIDAs. Under this DICT-led program, Smart is providing free TNT SIM cards pre-loaded with 25GB of data per month for 12 months, fully subsidized by the government, beneficiaries identified by the Department of Education. The initial waves of distribution were successfully held in June last year in Masinloc, Zambales province at Bani National High School – Coto Annex, Coto Elementary School, and Mandaloy Elementary School, and in December at Unidos Elementary School in Nabas, Aklan.

PLDT’s investments in innovating to enhance its network are aligned with the Group's broader thrust to deliver leveled-up services to customers nationwide. It also supports PLDT and Smart's commitment to national development through strategic partnerships that expand digital access and enhance the delivery of essential services, such as education. This also contributes to the PLDT Group’s endeavors to help the country achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) including SDG 4 - Quality Education, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities.

SHDA Inducts 2026 Officers, Sets Forward-Looking Agenda to Support National Housing Goals

Manila, Philippines — The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) officially inducted its 2026 new set of officers, marking the start of a year focused on supporting member developers and advancing the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development’s (DHSUD) beneficiary-centric housing program to help address the country’s housing backlog.

The new leadership team, led by Chairman Engr. Francis Richmond Z. Villegas and National President Kerwin V. Padua take office as the housing sector moves into the implementation phase of key policy reforms introduced in late 2025 under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program, which now includes horizontal developments.

Recently, DSHUD, together with the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev), released the adjustment of the socialized housing price ceiling under Joint Memorandum Circular 2025-001, along with the corresponding Implementing Rules and Regulations. The new ceilings are set at a maximum of P950,000 for horizontal or subdivision-type projects and P1,800,000 for vertical or condominium units with a minimum floor area of 27 square meters.

Leading EV Logistics Firm Mober Partners With TESDA to Advance PH’s EV Workforce Training, Development

Manila, PhilippinesMober, the leading green logistics services provider in the Philippines, has entered into a landmark partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to help advance national workforce training and development for the country’s emerging electric vehicle (EV) sector.

The partnership was formalized through a handshake ceremony at the TESDA Central Office in Taguig, with the support of the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP). Under this collaboration, education and training programs in EV driving, EV maintenance, and specialized skills such as customer service and assembly work will be developed and offered under TESDA, with Mober supporting end-to-end education delivery and providing clearer pathways to employment in green logistics.

TESDA will ensure all competencies meet national standards. Mober, in turn, will provide trainers, facilities, access to its operational EV fleet, and industry expertise to provide trainees with hands-on exposure to commercial EV operations and real-world logistics environments. The initiative positions Mober as a key industry partner helping shape employment-ready EV workforce programs aligned with the country’s long-term transport and sustainability goals.

This partnership forms part of Mober’s broader commitment to being an industry leader in people care and inclusion. Its internationally recognized gender diversity campaign, MoveHer, promotes the meaningful participation of women in the traditionally male-dominated logistics industry by creating more pathways into green jobs.

The initiative highlights the high level of workforce readiness among female TVET graduates. TESDA’s latest report revealed they recorded a standout employment rate of 85.67%, outpacing the national average. By providing targeted support, Mober and TESDA aim to bridge gender gaps in technical industries by tapping into this highly capable talent pool.

“Mober is serious about building new pipelines of skilled female professionals for the green economy. This is where we can truly make a meaningful contribution to nation-building. As we grow our business, we are equally committed to strengthening the capabilities of our people. This is how we meet the needs of our global clients while growing responsibly, with both sustainable business practices and the country’s social needs in mind,” said Miguel Bermundo, Vice President for People and Sustainability of Mober.

The partnership also comes as commercial EV adoption gains momentum across the Asia-Pacific region. According to industry research, the Asia Pacific electric commercial vehicles market was valued at USD 114 billion in 2025 and is forecast to reach USD 221 billion by 2029, growing at a nearly 18% compound annual rate, driven by rising electrification of logistics fleets, urban delivery vehicles, and public transport systems.

“Having a partner like Mober can help us jumpstart localizing the competency standards we may find globally, and more importantly, create avenues of training for our people,” said TESDA Secretary/Director General Jose Francisco "Kiko" Benitez during the handshake ceremony.

Nelly Nita Dillera, CESO III, Deputy Director General at TESDA, added, "Through our partnership with Mober, we're particularly excited about the work we will be doing with women to upskill them in EV driving, repair, and maintenance. This partnership brings together education, local governance, and industry—three pillars that, when aligned, create real pathways to employment, enterprise, and community development.”

The initiative reinforces Mober’s reputation as a people-centered organization. Following its recognition as one of Asia’s Inspiring Workplaces at the ACES Awards last November 2025, Mober continues to prioritize inclusivity alongside its environmental goals.

This year, Mober intends to scale these training initiatives and further expand its all-electric fleet, cementing its position as the leading green logistics partner in the Philippines.

Lenovo Brings AI-Powered Innovation to the FIFA World Cup 2026

Lenovo has officially been named the Official Technology Partner of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, marking one of the most ambitious technology collaborations in football history. The partnership will see Lenovo deploy advanced artificial intelligence, digital twins, and immersive technologies designed to transform tournament operations, refereeing, and fan experiences across host cities and venues.

At the core of this initiative is Football AI Pro, a custom-built AI platform created to enhance tournament intelligence and provide more personalized fan engagement. By analyzing match data, player movements, and real-time events, Football AI Pro will help FIFA officials, broadcasters, and fans better understand what is happening on and off the pitch. This allows for more accurate insights, smarter decisions, and a more interactive experience for millions of viewers worldwide.

One of the most visually impressive innovations is the introduction of AI-powered Digital Avatars. These realistic 3D representations of players will be integrated into match broadcasts and officiating tools. They will support referees by improving visualization during complex decisions, especially in tight calls involving fouls, offsides, or goal-line situations. Fans will also benefit from clearer and more engaging visual replays that explain why key decisions were made.

Lenovo is also upgrading Semi-Automated Offside Technology with AI-enabled avatars, improving both accuracy and transparency. These enhanced systems will allow referees and viewers to see precisely how offside calls are calculated, reducing confusion and increasing trust in officiating decisions.

To manage the massive scale of the tournament, Lenovo will implement an Intelligent Command Center. This AI-powered hub will monitor real-time tournament operations and produce daily summaries for FIFA officials, allowing faster and more informed responses to emerging situations. Alongside this, digital twins of stadiums and venues will give FIFA a live virtual model of each location, enabling real-time monitoring and optimization of crowd flow, safety, and logistics.

Fans will also experience smarter navigation through Smart Wayfinding, an AI-guided system that helps visitors move seamlessly between cities, fan zones, and stadiums. Meanwhile, the popular Referee View body cameras will return with improved AI-driven stabilization, giving viewers an even clearer perspective from the referee’s point of view.

In addition, Lenovo will launch FIFA World Cup 2026™ Special Edition devices, including laptops, tablets, and gaming products, all featuring exclusive tournament branding. Behind the scenes, Lenovo will provide resilient infrastructure and hardware support for FIFA and Hawk-Eye Innovations, ensuring VAR and other critical systems operate smoothly throughout the competition.

With this partnership, Lenovo is setting a new standard for how technology and football come together on the world’s biggest stage.
