Eastern Communications Concludes Launchpad Series, Highlights Key Digital Transformation Priorities Across Philippine Industries

Eastern Communications has concluded its seven-part Launchpad series, bringing together business leaders, industry experts, technology partners, and decision-makers to discuss the opportunities and priorities shaping digital transformation across seven key sectors of the Philippine economy. Through seven industry-focused sessions, Launchpad served as a platform for organizations to exchange insights on emerging challenges, share best practices, and explore practical technology solutions that support business growth and resilience.

Held in collaboration with Colliers, Cisco, HPE, Sophos, Nexusguard, and Huawei, the initiative underscored the value of cross-industry collaboration in helping organizations strengthen operations, build resilience, and prepare for future growth amid evolving market conditions, rapid technological advancements, and rising customer expectations.

Spanning seven dedicated sessions, the series focused on key sectors that play vital roles in the Philippine economy: IT-BPM, Supply Chain, Hospitality & Tourism, Public Sector, Banking & Finance, Healthcare, and Academe. Each session provided a platform for participants to exchange insights, examine industry-specific pain points, and explore practical approaches to addressing business and technology gaps.

While each industry brought its own priorities to the discussions, several themes consistently emerged throughout the Launchpad series, reflecting the shared challenges organizations face as they continue to evolve in an increasingly digital landscape.

Cybersecurity continues to be a growing concern as organizations expand their digital footprint and face increasingly sophisticated threats. Operational resilience remains a top priority as businesses seek to ensure continuity amid economic uncertainties and changing customer expectations. Meanwhile, digital transformation efforts are becoming more focused on achieving measurable business outcomes, with organizations looking for practical and scalable solutions rather than technology for technology’s sake.

“Organizations today face increasingly complex challenges that require more than technology alone,” said Edsel Paglinawan, Chief Revenue & Innovation Officer at Eastern Communications. “They need trusted partners who understand their industries, listen to their evolving needs, and help them build solutions that support long-term growth and resilience. Launchpad was created to foster those conversations.”

Emerging Industry-Themed Insights from the Launchpad

While these priorities resonated across all sectors, each industry also highlighted distinct opportunities and challenges that require tailored approaches to digital transformation.

For the IT-BPM industry, participants highlighted the importance of resilient digital infrastructure and secure hybrid work environments in helping Philippine organizations remain globally competitive amid evolving client demands.

Hospitality & Tourism organizations explored how digital solutions can help modernize operations, enhance guest experiences, and improve service delivery to meet the changing expectations of today's travelers.

The Banking & Finance sector underscored the importance of strengthening cybersecurity, enhancing customer trust, and ensuring regulatory compliance as digital financial services continue to evolve.

Healthcare organizations discussed the need for secure and reliable infrastructure, capable of supporting connected care and digital health initiatives. Meanwhile, institutions within the Academe sector examined how technology can help create more engaging, secure, and future-ready learning environments.

Beyond knowledge-sharing, Launchpad created opportunities for organizations to exchange experiences, discuss common business challenges, and explore practical approaches to digital transformation with peers and technology experts.

Driving Meaningful Collaboration

The series also reinforced Eastern Communications' commitment to developing industry-relevant connectivity and ICT solutions that address evolving customer needs across different sectors.

“Every industry has its own challenges, but what we consistently heard throughout the series was the need for solutions that are practical, scalable, and aligned with business objectives,” added Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer at Eastern Communications. “These conversations help us better understand the evolving needs of our customers and allow us to continue developing solutions that create meaningful impact.”

As the Launchpad series concludes, Eastern Communications thanks its partners, speakers, and participating organizations for contributing valuable perspectives throughout the discussions. The insights gathered from the series will continue to inform the company's efforts to help Philippine businesses build resilient, secure, and future-ready digital operations.

Eastern Communications Champions Sustainability with Globe and InfiniVAN at PDSCN Mangrove Tree Planting Activity

BACOLOD CITY - Eastern Communications, alongside the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) consortium, participated in a mangrove tree-planting activity in Purok Calubay on May 22. Conducted as part of the consortium’s post-Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) commitments, this initiative marks a significant milestone in the organization’s continuous support towards sustainable development and climate action.

Organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) in partnership with Bago City LGU, CENRO Bago, and other stakeholders, the initiative highlighted the importance of safeguarding coastal communities.

The activity opened with an orientation led by Bago City Environment and Management Office (CEMO) Representative Rex Magbanua, who emphasized the critical role mangroves play in protecting coastal communities from storm surges and coastal erosion. He cited the impact of Super Typhoon Odette in 2021, which heavily affected Bacolod and the rest of Negros Occidental, as a reminder of the importance of strengthening climate resilience initiatives.

Mangrove tree planting is a community-driven initiative that helps protect coastlines, support marine biodiversity, and strengthen climate resilience. Through initiatives like these, organizations contribute to environmental protection efforts while supporting vulnerable coastal communities and advancing meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

For communities such as Purok Calubay, mangroves serve as nature-based solutions that help mitigate flooding and soil erosion while supporting local livelihoods, including fisheries and other coastal resources.

"This initiative reflects our belief that creating meaningful impact goes beyond providing reliable and responsive connectivity," said Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer of Eastern Communications. "By supporting sustainability-driven partnerships and community-centered programs, we aim to help strengthen environmental resilience, empower local communities, and contribute to long-term sustainable development."

Through initiatives like the mangrove tree-planting activity, Eastern Communications continues to support programs that create positive social and environmental impact. As the company expands its presence across the Philippines, it remains committed to combining future-ready connectivity solutions with efforts that create lasting value for both people and the planet.

Eastern Communications Assures Stable Services Amid Middle East Tensions

As tensions in the Middle East continue to make headlines, concerns about potential disruptions to global connectivity have grown. Eastern Communications, a leading telecommunications provider in the Philippines, reassures its customers and partners that its services remain fully operational with no anticipated interruptions.

The company has proactively activated its Business Continuity Management Plan (BCMP), a comprehensive framework designed to maintain seamless operations under any circumstance. Critical technical and field personnel remain fully deployed, supported by a hybrid work arrangement that ensures employee safety without compromising service delivery.

“Connectivity is essential for businesses and communities, and our priority is to keep it uninterrupted,” said Atty. Aileen Regio, Co-Coordinator of Eastern Communications. “Our preparedness measures, combined with a resilient network design, allow us to continue providing reliable service even amid global uncertainties.”

Eastern Communications’ network architecture is built for adaptability. With geographically diverse submarine cable routes and independent core nodes, traffic is automatically rerouted in the event of any localized or regional disruption. This layered redundancy ensures that enterprises, institutions, and households continue to use stable, high-quality connectivity at all times.

The company’s commitment to continuity extends to power management. In line with the National Energy Emergency Plan, Eastern Communications optimizes energy use across its facilities. Its sites are also equipped with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and backup generators. In contrast, a guaranteed fuel supply ensures that operations can continue without interruption, even during commercial power fluctuations.

Jaeson Evangelista, Co-Coordinator of Eastern Communications, emphasized the company’s proactive approach: “We continuously monitor our network and coordinate with international partners to identify potential risks early. This vigilance, combined with our technical safeguards, ensures that our customers can rely on us for continuously reliable service.”

Eastern Champions Sustainability with First Gen Partnership to Power Makati HQ and Key Tech Sites with Renewable Energy

Renewable energy (RE) utilization of Eastern Communications (Eastern Comms) across its offices and operations centers increases from 2% to 10%, marking a significant and measurable milestone in environmental performance and operational reliability.

The boost in RE use comes as Eastern Comms completes its transition to geothermal energy, following a strategic partnership with First Gen Corporation (First Gen).

Through this partnership, First Gen will supply geothermal energy to power the telco provider’s Makati headquarters and key Technical Operations Centers (TOCs), reinforcing the Eastern Comms’ view that future-ready digital infrastructure must be supported by clean, resilient energy.

“This partnership represents a clear step forward in how we power our operations,” said Atty. Aileen Regio, Co-coordinator of Eastern Comms. “By integrating geothermal energy into key facilities, we are reinforcing the resilience of our core infrastructure. Sustainability, for us, is directly linked to service continuity and long-term performance.”

The geothermal energy is sourced from facilities in Leyte, reinforcing the role of indigenous renewable resources in securing the country’s energy future. For Eastern Comms, the partnership ensures that critical network facilities—those that keep enterprises connected—are backed by stable, dependable power while also lowering carbon emissions.

The transition is enabled by the government’s Retail Competition Open Access (RCOA) program, which allows large electricity consumers to directly contract with power suppliers. Through RCOA, Eastern Comms is able to make deliberate energy choices that align with its long-term sustainability strategy while strengthening efficiency across its facilities.

“Increasing our renewable utilization is a concrete milestone. Together with the 222 kW solar capacity already supporting our Makati HQ and TOCs, our adoption of renewable geothermal energy strengthens our ability to operate efficiently while aligning with national climate priorities and the broader shift toward a circular economy,” said Jaeson Evangelista, Co-coordinator of Eastern Comms.

The renewable energy shift forms part of the telco provider’s ongoing infrastructure modernization initiatives, which include intelligent automation upgrades, energy-efficient systems, and phased disaster resilience projects designed to fortify its facilities and core network. These investments reflect the company’s 2026 direction, “Dare To Soar,” anchored on innovation, reliability, and responsible growth.

As Eastern Communications advances its “Dare To Soar” direction, the partnership with First Gen demonstrates how digital innovation and sustainability are becoming increasingly interconnected. Powering critical facilities with renewable energy is a strategic move to build a more resilient, future-ready network.

At a time when automation and price wars dominate the telecom landscape, Eastern Communications sets itself apart with a powerful differentiator: personalized service with a human touch. Eastern’s unique approach was recently recognized at the Asian Experience Awards 2025 in Singapore, where its 2024 “Partners in Progress” brand campaign and Link VIP Club customer loyalty program earned honors for Brand Experience of the Year and Customer Experience of the Year, respectively.

Launched in 2018 to nurture Eastern’s relationships with its most valued B2B partners, the Link VIP Club has since evolved into a full-fledged experience offering exclusive perks, elevated service touchpoints, and access to premium lifestyle events tailored to the needs of modern enterprises.

This year, the program saw a notable rise in both participation and satisfaction ratings, reflecting Eastern Communications’ deeper engagement with its clients. Among the key highlights was the launch of the Titanium Tier, the newest and most exclusive membership level of the Link VIP Club.

Elevated experiences through the Titanium Tier

Unveiled in April at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, the Titanium Tier launch was a celebration of partnership and progress. This newest Link VIP Club level offers premium benefits such as 24/7 priority care, managed connectivity solutions, exclusive event access, and curated learning sessions. Designed to deepen client relationships and elevate the customer experience, these perks align with Eastern Communications’ “High Tech, High Touch” philosophy.

“Customer-centric innovation is at the heart of everything we do,” said Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer at Eastern Communications. “Through the expanded Link VIP Club perks, we’re elevating the way we serve with smarter solutions, faster resolution time, and exclusive access to experiences to empower our clients for the future. Our goal is not just to meet expectations, but to stay ahead of them and anticipate challenges before they arise. Because at Eastern, every client journey deserves excellence.”

Furthering its client-first approach, the telco provider hosted its first-ever golf tournament exclusively for Titanium members on July 17, 2025, in Laguna. This inaugural event brought together some of Eastern Communications’ most loyal clients for a day of friendly competition, networking, and shared celebration.

“Our company has been with Eastern Communications since 2015, and we really feel special. This event is more on engagement and relationship building, which I think is the key to being long-time partners,” said Yeng Molero, owner of APN Philippines Inc.

Recognized commitment to client engagement

Aside from the 2025 Asian Experience Awards, Eastern’s “high touch” service has garnered significant acknowledgment across various regional marketing platforms.

Eastern Communications earned recognition at the 2025 Carrier Community Global Awards in Berlin, winning the Best Sales and Marketing Team of the Year award, highlighting the strength and impact of its customer engagement initiatives. The telco also took home a bronze award for Excellence in B2B Marketing at the Marketing Excellence Awards Philippines.

Most importantly, Eastern Communications’ dedication to exceptional service is reflected in the feedback of its clients.

“As an Eastern client, I really enjoyed the after-sales and pre-sales services. Most businesses require reliability and a fast connection, and in the event of downtime, the team must be very approachable. It’s truly great that we are partnered with Eastern. I would really recommend Eastern based on our company’s overall experience, knowing that we can confidently stand by our recommendation," said Shin Enriquez, Network Operations Section Head at Bank of Commerce.

Ross Garcia, Head of Public Relations at San Miguel Holdings, shared, "Eastern Communications is very proud of their service, [and] as they say, it is very personalized and exceeds every client's expectations. They go the extra mile, and they provide services that really can't be matched by other competitors."

Connecting the Unconnected: Eastern Advances Inclusive Education Through Connectivity and Digital Literacy Efforts

Eastern Communications, the Philippines' pioneering telecommunications company and ICT solutions provider, continues to exceed expectations in championing digital equity and inclusive progress through its sustained community and digital literacy efforts. The company's initiatives, led by its digital enablement program, Project Maaasahan, are advancing access to connectivity and digital literacy for underserved communities, ensuring that every Filipino has the tools to thrive in a digital-first world.

Bringing connectivity where it matters

The Philippines continues to face a significant digital divide. According to the World Bank, the access gap in broadband internet between social classes is rapidly expanding, with fixed broadband penetration in the top wealth quintile being significantly higher than in the bottom quintile.

This disparity is further highlighted in a study by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), which shows that while 92% of barangays have access to a cellular signal, only about 12% have access to free Wi-Fi, and about 29% have access to fiber optic cable. These statistics underscore the urgent need for initiatives that directly address connectivity and infrastructure gaps, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA).

Eastern Communications is tackling this challenge head-on with Project Maaasahan, a multi-year initiative in partnership with unconnected.org and the Department of Education (DepEd). The program aims to bring vital internet connectivity to 10 GIDA schools across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Through this initiative, Eastern will provide free internet access and digital literacy programs to students,

teachers, and their communities. To date, 4 out of 10 target sites have been successfully connected, with satellite devices fully functional and official turnovers completed.

“Our mission is to help close the digital divide by connecting the unconnected,” said Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer at Eastern Communications. “We believe in the power of connectivity to transform lives. By providing these schools with the right tools, we are not just giving them internet access; we are opening up a world of information and opportunity, and helping to secure a brighter future for our young learners.”

Internet access reaches more learners

The impact is already being felt on the ground, with over 805 students and 30 teaching staff from the connected sites now having access to the internet. Among the first beneficiaries are Panicuason Elementary School in Naga City, San Jose Elementary School in Dipolog City, Namabbalan Integrated School in Tuguegarao City, and Pao-Pao High School in General Santos City.

For Panicuason Elementary School Principal Winnife Urot, Project Maaasahan represents more than just a CSR effort. "This is a partnership with purpose, anchored in love for Filipino learners and belief that education is the greatest equalizer," she said.

In General Santos City, the access to connectivity is a game-changer for Pao-Pao High School's 340 students, many of whom are from indigenous communities and travel up to four hours a day to attend classes.

"Ang dating pangarap lamang na magkaroon ng maayos, mabilis at maaasahang internet connection, ay isa nang katuparan ngayon,"
shared Mr. Dexter Tejedor, Principal of Pao-Pao High School. "Ang Project Maaasahan ay hindi lamang koneksyon sa internet. Ito ay tulay ng pag-asa, pag-unlad, at pagbabago. Patunay ito na kahit nasa tuktok ng bundok, ang kaalaman at oportunidad, ay maaaring umabot sa bawat batang mag-aaral."

(Translation: "What was once just a dream of having a good, fast, and reliable internet connection is now a reality. Project Maaasahan is not just about providing connectivity. It is a bridge of hope, progress, and change. It is proof that even at the top of a mountain, knowledge and opportunity can still reach every student.")

Nurturing the next generation of innovators

Furthering its advocacy for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, Eastern Communications continues to foster digital literacy through its partnerships with organizations like TeamAsia and the Payatas Orione Foundation Inc. (PAOFI).

The company once again collaborated with the My Dream in a Shoebox (MDIAS) program, providing 100 public school student beneficiaries from PAOFI with an immersive visit to The Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Bringing Reliable Connectivity to More Communities: Eastern Communications Furthers its Reach in Mindanao

Eastern Communications, the Philippines’ pioneer telecommunications and ICT solutions provider, continues its mission to bridge the digital divide by officially expanding its services in two key cities in Mindanao: General Santos City and Dipolog City. Through its signature Via Eastern launch events, the telco celebrates its growing presence in Southern and Western Mindanao—empowering local communities, driving innovation, and supporting regional growth.

Eastern Communications Chief Revenue and Innovation Officer Edsel Paglinawan said, “We’re excited to officially launch our services in General Santos and Dipolog, and to expand to more areas across Mindanao. Our presence in these key digital cities reflects Eastern Communications’ continued mission to transform how businesses in manufacturing, retail, IT-BPM, and MSME sectors operate, helping them better serve their communities and drive inclusive progress across the cities. By equipping enterprises of all sizes with reliable connectivity and future-ready ICT solutions, we’re building a digital foundation that empowers communities, fuels regional economies, and drives long-term, inclusive development.”

Empowering General Santos: The Tuna Capital of the Philippines

On August 12, Eastern Communications marked its official entry into General Santos City with a launch held at the Grand Summit Hotel. General Santos continues to rise as a vital hub for trade and innovation, taking the spot as the 15th most competitive city in the country and 3rd among highly urbanized cities in Mindanao in the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

"This partnership opens new doors for our businesses, government, and communities, allowing us to connect better, work smarter, and innovate faster. We look forward to collaborating with Eastern Communications in building a more inclusive, progressive, and future-ready GenSan," said General Santos City Councilor Michael Pacquiao.

General Santos City, or GenSan is home to six of the nation’s seven tuna canneries and employs over 200,000 individuals and serves as a key driver of the Philippines’ fishery exports. To support this thriving industrial hub, the government-led Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) has initiated the rehabilitation of the General Santos Fish Port Complex, further strengthening the city’s vital contribution to the industry.

Eastern’s expansion brings advanced digital solutions tailored to support key local industries, including manufacturing, retail, MSMEs, tourism, agriculture, and the growing IT-BPM sector.

With business-grade connectivity services like Eastern Fiber 1 and Internet Direct Service (IDS), local enterprises benefit from fast, secure, and scalable internet, essential for boosting productivity and meeting global business standards to stay competitive in international markets.

For the agricultural sectors in Mindanao, consistent enterprise-grade internet is critical to support agritech applications such as cloud-based platforms, agricultural robotics, and automated machinery, helping farmers monitor crops, predict weather, and grow more successful harvests.

Meanwhile, for the region’s canning companies and smart manufacturing, business-grade internet is no longer optional, it’s a necessity for meeting international standards, achieving global competitiveness, and expanding to global markets. Reliable, high-speed connectivity enables real-time inventory tracking, smart aquaculture operations, seamless coordination across production lines, and efficient logistics and export operations such as blockchain-based traceability systems.

Unlocking Digital Growth in Dipolog: The Gateway to Western Mindanao

On July 22, Eastern Communications held its launch at D’Hotel & Suites in Dipolog City, capital of Zamboanga del Norte. Known as the “Gateway to Western Mindanao,” Dipolog is quickly emerging as a business hub, powered by growing tourism, trade, and logistics infrastructure. In the 2024 CMCI rankings, Zamboanga del Norte climbed to 47th in economic dynamism nationwide, with Dipolog retaining its title as the Most Competitive Component City in Region 9.

“In this fast-paced, digital age, connectivity is not just a luxury, it is a necessity. Reliable communication bridges communities, empowers businesses, and connects our people to a wider world of possibilities. With Eastern Communications now part of our local landscape, we are assured of better access to technology and services that will help our communities thrive and compete,” said Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Governor DareI Uy.

“This development reflects a shared belief that "Bag-ong Zanorte" is ready for the future. Let this launch be a reminder to all of us that progress is best achieved when we work hand in hand-government, private sector, and the community. Together, we can ensure that no Zanortehanon is left out of the opportunities that the digital age brings,” added Governor Uy.

Driving Inclusive Progress Through Connectivity

While over 50 million Filipinos are now online, regions in Mindanao still face gaps in internet access. Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority shows that internet connectivity in Mindanao remains low, with only 28.5% of households in the Zamboanga Peninsula being connected. This highlights the urgent need to expand internet infrastructure as a foundation for meaningful digital transformation in the region. Eastern Communications is working to bridge this gap by establishing strong digital foundations and has connected key Mindanao areas, including Davao, Zamboanga, Butuan, and Cagayan de Oro. Backed by its recent network infrastructure expansion, the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN), Eastern continues to build digital resilience and drive inclusive growth in the country, one city at a time.

As part of its Mindanao expansion, Eastern Communications is now equipping enterprises in General Santos and Dipolog with future-ready digital tools, helping fuel inclusive growth, strengthen industries, and prepare communities for a more connected tomorrow.

Eastern Communications Backs Government Agenda for a Digital-First PH

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Eastern Communications upholds its support for the Philippine government’s digital-first agenda, rolling out initiatives that enhance connectivity, promote digital literacy, and expand access to quality education. From supporting the May 2025 electoral count and bringing internet access to remote schools to expanding its regional footprint, Eastern Communications is exceeding expectations in strengthening the country’s digital foundations.

“As a trusted technology partner, Eastern Communications is proud to stand alongside the government and like-minded private organizations in advancing digital transformation across the country,” said Atty. Aileen Regio, Co-Coordinator of Eastern Communications. “Through our efforts in connectivity, digital education, and regional expansion, we remain focused on enabling progress and inclusive growth for Filipinos everywhere.”

With a strong commitment to nation-building, Eastern Communications reinforces its mission of making technology more accessible for every Filipino by empowering institutions, communities, and individuals in today’s increasingly digital society.

Reliable connection for 2025 elections and remote classrooms

Eastern Communications played a vital role in supporting the May 2025 electoral process by providing stable and secure connectivity during the official vote count held at The Manila Hotel in Ermita, Manila. The telco provider’s reliable services enabled seamless real-time reporting and operations throughout the high-stakes national event.

“[Eastern’s] provision of reliable and high-quality connectivity services played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted transmission of data and communications throughout the entire electoral process,” said Atty. Joey Lina, President of The Manila Hotel, expressed his gratitude in a formal letter for Eastern Communications’ support during the official vote count.

“In moments when precision, efficiency, and transparency were paramount, [Eastern’s] commitment to service excellence significantly contributed to the integrity and success of this important national event,” Lina added.

Eastern Communications also strengthened its advocacy for inclusive digital access through its reaffirmed partnership with global non-profit Unconnected.org and the Department of Education (DepEd) to connect remote and underserved schools across the country. The initiative aims to bring internet connectivity to learners and educators in far-flung areas, providing them with the tools and opportunities to thrive in an evolving digital world.

Under this partnership, Eastern Communications has begun delivering internet connectivity to several schools this year, including Panicuason Elementary School in Naga on July 15, San Jose Elementary School in Dipolog on July 22, and Namabbalan Integrated School in Tuguegarao on July 24.

Additional schools slated for turnover in August are Paopao High School in General Santos, Capisan Elementary School in Zamboanga, Patrocino A. Lachica Integrated School in Aklan, and Alambre Elementary School in Davao. These schools represent a significant step in the initial phase of the program, with three more schools to follow in the coming months.

Growing presence in Mindanao, educating local IT talent

Eastern Communications is accelerating its regional expansion, with a particular focus on Mindanao. The telco provider is set to officially launch its services in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, on July 22, 2025, followed by General Santos City in the third quarter. These launches are part of the company’s broader effort to strengthen its presence in emerging business centers and help stimulate local economies through improved digital infrastructure.

To provide a secure and robust infrastructure, Eastern expands its reach through an ultra-high capacity backbone transmission Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Network. This cutting-edge technology delivers Terabits per second (TBPS) bandwidth, ensuring highly reliable and scalable connectivity across the country. Its capacity can also be replicated or expanded based on the demand, with spare fibers connecting various islands.

Alongside its connectivity rollouts, Eastern Communications continues to drive awareness and skills-building through its educational campaigns. Programs like “Access Eastern” and “Brown Bag Sessions” offer hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and learning opportunities for local IT professionals and community leaders, arming them with essential tools to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.

“These initiatives are about more than connectivity, they’re about empowerment,” said Eastern Communications Co-Coordinator Jaeson Evangelista. “We believe that every Filipino deserves a seat at the digital table, and we’re doing our part to ensure that nobody is left behind.”

With over 145 years of service, Eastern Communications remains committed to its “High Tech” and “High Touch” promise, combining cutting-edge technology with personalized service that builds trust and drives impact. In alignment with the Philippines’ nationwide push for digital transformation, Eastern Communications extended its full support to the Chief Information Officers Forum Foundation, Inc. (CIOFF) for this year’s National ICT Summit 2025 (NICT2025) — the culminating event of National ICT Month.

This year’s NICT2025 took place last June 19-20, 2025, at The Manila Hotel, with the theme: “Transforming Together: Building an Inclusive Digital Nation.”

As the official connectivity partner of the summit, Eastern Communications provided a seamless, reliable internet connection for the event, making it more accessible for its online participants. Through this collaboration, the company actively supports initiatives that promote innovation, digital inclusion, and greater ICT awareness across the country.

“At Eastern Communications, we continuously seek opportunities to support the country’s digital advancement by way of strategic partnerships, digital education programs, and by empowering communities with reliable and accessible connectivity,” said Eastern Communications Chief Revenue and Innovation Officer Edsel Paglinawan.

The telco provider will also roll out its latest “Brown Bag Session” and “Access Eastern” tech workshops across Metro Manila and the new videos of its "Thoughts on Tech" video podcast as part of its ICT month initiatives.

Driving Nation-Building Through NICT Summit 2025

Supported by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the NICT2025 brought together national leaders, private sector innovators, and global ICT experts to present strategies and technologies that advance inclusive digital development.

The summit was joined by around 400 in-person delegates and 200–500 online participants, including representatives from the academe, IT associations, private industry, and government bodies. The event previewed the upcoming ASEAN CIO Association (ACIOA) 9th Forum in Singapore this September, featuring thought leadership on digital transformation, AI, cybersecurity, sustainability, and emerging tech trends shaping ASEAN’s future.

Furthering its mission to support nation-building and empower Filipino communities through technology, Eastern Communications is proud to be part of the annual National ICT Month celebrations, observed every June under Presidential Proclamation No. 1521, s. 2008.

"Thoughts on Tech" Podcast Returns with AI & Digital Literacy Focus

This series features insightful conversations with industry leaders, focusing on ICT as a crucial enabler of progress and why digital transformation is now a fundamental necessity for all businesses.

The series will address the need for greater AI and ICT awareness among Philippine businesses. Research from the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) indicates that despite national efforts for AI integration, local businesses, especially MSMEs, face challenges in adoption due to barriers in infrastructure, awareness, and funding. As of 2021, only 14.9% of businesses were using AI technologies, highlighting the early stages of AI adoption in the country.

The "Thoughts on Tech" episodes are released weekly throughout June via Eastern’s official Facebook and YouTube channel:
  • The Future of the Filipino Workforce in the Age of AI, featuring Tonichi Parekh, Vice President of Concentrix.
  • The Creator Economy, Its Challenges and Unique Trends with Marla De Castro Rausch, President of Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines (SIKAP) and CEO of Animation Vertigo.
  • From Classroom to Boardroom: Integrating Digital Skills in Education with Aurelien Chu, Co-Founder of Eskwelabs.

Eastern Communications Extends Aid to Mt. Kanlaon Evacuees

In the wake of Mt. Kanlaon’s recent eruption in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, Eastern Communications, through the help of its employees, quickly responded by extending vital support to affected communities, continuing its mission to stand by Filipinos in times of need.

The eruption displaced more than 4,000 individuals across eight evacuation centers in the city, and over 2,000 others were temporarily sheltered by relatives in the city proper and nearby areas. In response, Eastern Communications immediately mobilized a donation drive to help support ongoing relief operations in coordination with the Canlaon City local government unit (LGU).

Eastern Communications turned over its employee-initiated donation funds to help the LGU’s response programs and provide basic needs to those affected by the calamity.

Eastern Communications acknowledges the commendable leadership of the Canlaon LGU during this challenging time, recognizing their efforts in coordinating relief and ensuring the safety of their constituents.

“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by Mt. Kanlaon’s eruption. In moments like this, when families are displaced and communities are in distress, it’s important that they know they’re not alone. We see the strength of the Canlaon community and the tireless work of its leaders, and we want to do our part. We hope that the support from all our Ka-Eastern employees can help ease some of the burden they’re facing,” said Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer at Eastern Communications.

This initiative is part of Eastern Communications’ larger thrust to respond proactively during natural disasters. Similar to this initiative, the company also extended its support to communities affected by the Mt. Mayon eruption in Albay in 2023.

The telco has consistently maintained partnerships with LGUs and NGOs to address urgent needs beyond connectivity. These efforts reflect the company’s enduring mission to serve not only as a telecommunications provider but as a partner in uplifting lives, especially during emergencies.

As Eastern continues to uphold its brand values of maaasahan and malasakit, its support to Mt. Kanlaon evacuees reaffirms its role as a trusted partner, ensuring not only connectivity but genuine care in times of need.

Eastern Communications Partners with unconnected.org to Empower Remote Schools Across the Philippines

Eastern Communications, a premier telecommunications and ICT solutions provider, has partnered with global non-profit organization unconnected.org to bring essential internet connectivity to ten Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. This collaboration marks a significant step toward promoting digital literacy and inclusion in underserved communities.

As part of this initiative, Eastern Communications will provide free internet access to students, teachers, and local residents in ten remote schools, starting with eight target locations: Dipolog, General Santos, Tuguegarao, Naga, Kalibo, Bais, Davao, and Zamboanga. This effort supports Eastern’s mission of empowering unconnected communities and ensuring that access to the digital world becomes a right rather than a privilege.

“We believe that access to the internet is no longer a privilege, but a basic need, especially for education and access to vital information,” said Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer of Eastern Communications. “Through this partnership with unconnected.org, not only can we help bridge the digital divide but also drive digital literacy, especially in far-flung areas.”

The program officially kicked off with a ceremonial signing and planning session attended by representatives from both Eastern Communications and unconnected.org. This milestone demonstrates a shared commitment to nation-building and long-term investment in the education and future of rural communities.

Reliable internet connectivity will allow students in these remote schools to enhance their learning with updated online materials, access interactive educational platforms, and open doors to opportunities that were previously out of reach. However, the partnership doesn’t stop at connectivity. Eastern and unconnected.org are also launching digital literacy programs designed to teach both students and educators how to responsibly and effectively utilize online tools.

“This initiative reflects Eastern’s continued commitment to nation-building. By providing not just connectivity but also the tools to use it responsibly and effectively, we are investing in the future of these communities,” Estanislao emphasized.

With this forward-thinking partnership, Eastern Communications reaffirms its role as a digital enabler, using technology as a catalyst for inclusive growth and educational progress.
