Leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc (PLDT), through its Business Continuity and Resilience Office (BCRO), has attained the ISO 9001:2015 certification for Quality Management Systems (QMS), adding to the company's roster of international certifications and boosting the PLDT Group's drive to elevate customer experience.
"This milestone represents the culmination of dedicated efforts to enhance operational excellence, mitigate risks, and ensure continuous improvement practices in the face of disruptions," said Atty. Oliver Carlos G. Odulio, Enterprise Business Continuity and Resilience Office (BCRO) Head at PLDT and Smart.
Over the past eight years, PLDT and Smart’s BCRO has led the pursuit of these quality standardization measures to support the company’s thrust for resiliency, industry-leading operational excellence, and enhanced stakeholder confidence.
Under ISO 9001, organizations address inefficiencies and areas for improvement within their operations through the implementation of standardized processes and procedures, regular review of performance, feedback from stakeholders, and corrective actions, as guided by ISO 9001 standards.
Accomplishing the ISO 9001 certification ensures that the company’s Business Continuity Management Systems operate with the highest quality standards which has helped the company secure its ISO 22301:2019 certifications for both PLDT and Smart.
"Even before we embarked on this ISO 9001 certification, the BCRO has already made numerous efforts to improve its processes. With our operations becoming more efficient, we are able to serve our customers better, faster and more reliably," said Leonard Gonzales, Vice President for Properties and Facility Management at PLDT and Smart.
Recently, PLDT and its wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc (Smart) also added new ISO 22301:2019 certifications, reinforcing the Group's industry leadership in Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and pushing the Group's total ISO certifications for BCMS to 24 sites across the country.
These initiatives also align with the PLDT Group’s commitment to supporting the Philippine government's overall digitalization thrust, as well as the country's attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) particularly on SDG No. 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
