Vitro Inc. Fortifies Network Infrastructure at Sta. Rosa Hyperscale Data Center

VITRO Inc., a subsidiary of ePLDT and the data center arm of PLDT Inc. (PLDT), has activated the network infrastructure of the 50-MW VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR) data center which will enable its telco partners to establish their points-of-presence (PoP) and further enhance the facility’s network diversity and redundancy.

Following VSR’s successful energization, the activation of its network infrastructure marks yet another significant milestone in the facility’s network readiness as this will also ensure that clients have access to connectivity solutions that are best suited to their business needs. Telco partners that are set to activate their PoP include PLDT, Radius, Eastern Telecommunications, Philcom, Infinivan, HGC, and Converge ICT.

“At VITRO, our commitment goes beyond constructing state-of-the-art facilities. We strive to build hyperconnected data centers that drive our clients’ business success. Our mission is to empower our clients by fostering a telco and carrier ecosystem that promotes growth, resilience, and innovation in the digital age,” said Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc.

With its network powered up, VSR is poised to solidify its status as the first true hyperscale data center with a highly diverse ecosystem and robust network infrastructure that caters to the stringent needs of hyperscalers, enterprises, and the public sector.

To ensure telco diversity by design, VSR will also activate an initial 52 telco racks by the end of the year, with plans to expand to over 200 racks to support future growth. Each telco room is strategically designed with access to three diverse Points of Entry (PoE), optimizing network reliability and resilience.

Additionally, VITRO has partnered with Ciena, a global leader in networking systems, services, and software, to enhance inter-data center connectivity. This collaboration enables VSR to maintain secure, high-speed connections to the rest of VITRO’s Metro Manila sites through its Data Center Interconnect (DCI) solution. This setup allows clients to conveniently implement a multi-site disaster recovery strategy. The DCI solution also supports VITRO Internet Access and VITRO Internet Exchange services, ensuring their seamless availability across all VITRO data centers.

With these advancements, VSR is set to host the country’s most vibrant internet ecosystem and premier internet exchanges, making it an ideal location for hyperscalers, enterprises, and the public sector. This development aligns with PLDT’s much broader vision of positioning the Philippines as a leading hyperscale investment hub in the Asia Pacific region and contributes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9) – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
