Marking its 12th founding anniversary, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) has reaffirmed its commitment to protect the nation’s digital landscape with the theme “Empowering the Online Community towards a Cyber Resilient Environment.” As a long-standing partner of the PNP-ACG, GCash continues to support these efforts by actively participating in PNP-ACG’s campaign on cybersecurity awareness and safeguarding Filipinos against financial fraud through user education, close coordination, and applying innovative and secure measures within its platform.
The PNP-ACG’s recent two-day celebration at Camp Rafael Crame in Quezon City showcased its unwavering commitment to cyber resilience through a series of impactful events. This initiative brought together industry experts and stakeholders to address emerging digital threats and share best practices in strengthening cybersecurity across sectors.
A major highlight of the celebration was the AngelNet Summit, now in its third year, which placed the spotlight on protecting the youth in the digital space. GCash chief legal and compliance officer, Atty. Maricor Alvarez-Adriano led an engaging session with 150 students, underscoring the importance of online vigilance and safety, particularly against scams and Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC). The summit became a powerful platform for inter-agency collaboration, with representatives from DICT, DepEd, DOJ, Globe, PLDT, UNICEF, and TikTok coming together to champion digital safety. Moreover, the summit emphasized the collective responsibility of both public and private sectors in creating a safer online environment for the next generation. In his address, PBGen Bernard R. Yang, acting director of the PNP-ACG, underscored the importance of empowering the community, especially the youth, to adapt to the ever-evolving nature of cyber threats. "As we mark 12 years of service, we reaffirm our commitment to innovative strategies, stronger partnerships, and shared responsibility in creating a cyber-resilient environment," he said.
Meanwhile, PCOL Jay Guillermo, chief of the Cyber Response Unit of the PNP-ACG, highlighted the progress made in leveraging advanced technologies and collaborations to preempt and address online offenses. He emphasized the importance of capacity-building to ensure the law enforcement agency is equipped with the skills and technology to handle increasingly sophisticated cybercrime tactics.
GCash continues to play an active role in supporting the PNP-ACG's initiatives, aligning with its mission to promote trust and security in the digital space. GCash chief information and security officer Miguel Geronilla shared, “The PNP-ACG’s leadership inspires collective action to create a safer and trustworthy digital space, particularly for the younger generation. As partners, we remain committed to protecting Filipinos against cyber threats.”
GCash actively supports the PNP-ACG by undertaking sustained cybersecurity awareness and educational programs to help Filipinos detect and avoid scams, while strengthening its own platform’s security measures. GCash strives to create a reliable and secure cashless ecosystem that empowers users to embrace digital finance without fear of fraud, with the reliable law-enforcement power of the PNP-ACG.
With 12 years of service and a forward-looking mission, the PNP-ACG stands resolute as the guardian of the Philippines' digital domain.
As part of this ongoing collaboration, GCash and PNP-ACG encourage the public to report any incidents of cybercrime and fraud through PNP-ACG’s hotline 1326 or via the GCash app's Help Center or official customer support channels. By joining forces and reinforcing their commitment, GCash and PNP-ACG are shaping a safer and more cyber-resilient Philippines.
